Ahh, good point.

I filled up at 90.9 yesterday (with a 4c discount)
How nice is it to see the litres go up quicker than the price for a change!

I'm quite happy with the fuel economy of my BA Falcon Ute. It'll do 9lt/100klm all day long on the highway.
Considering it weighs in at almost 2 tonne & has a bullbar attached to the front, I reckon it does alright.
On the other hand The Proton Jumbuck weighs almost half as much but still uses 5.8lt/100klm on the highway.
I'll take the Falcon over the Jumbuck anyday of the week!

I read that the FG Falcon is the most fuel efficient 6 cylinder family car on the market and actually gives the 4 cyl Camry a nudge when driven responsibly. I hope the current fuel prices take a bit of heat off the local carmakers, so people can focus on what great cars they are.

So I hear that the price of oil is $39USD a barrel today, down from what, $110 at it's peak ?
So why has the price of fuel only just come back to $1.00 a litre down from $1.50 ?
Ripoff ****s !

Indeed.
As I keep telling everyone, both the dollar & oil have been this low before.
And petrol was a bloody lot lower than it is today!

I'm not sticking up for the fuel companies here (even though I work for one), but you have to remember Crude is just a small factor in the price of fuel. Everyone knows how the cost of tradies, engineers, insurances ete etc has risen during the mining boom, well refineries are run by there professions. The cost of producing fuel is astronomical before a single litre is produced, so there is always a basline cost.
And for the record the oiol peaked at $145.

poidda - perhaps if you lowered your hourly rate a touch, Caltex could pass the savings on to motorists.

I never thought I'd see less than 1.00/l again, but I am seeing that even here in Bendigo this week.
