Here we go again.

There seems to be quite a few people on the list that are coming back to old handicaps at the moment. Nice to see a couple of people finally reduce their handicap though.

Look at the bunch of burglars!!

Well done to those that have improved, especially those that have slashed their handicaps.

I don't see my name on that list.

On second thoughts, that's probably a good thing :(

Oh Rusty is going to shit this in. He will be down into single figures in no time. He's got game that boy.

AndyP

Rusty will have his confidence shattered within the next few weeks and will never recover.

Yeah, more than 10 years ago.... How many years does one need to be not playing/playing terrible in order to be eligible for this thing???

I agree with AP on this one. The Most Improved shouldn't be able to be won by someone if their current handicap is not the lowest they've ever been.

I'm chasing the Reproved trophy. :)

Don't you guys know how to use golflink?

If you dont know any golflink no's have a look at the Competition results in Golf Link.
You know what their score was, and their home club, cant be too hard from there...

Bruce

Yep, unless Gaz had an 81/73 at McLeod (I was told a nett 78), then his isn't there. And Iain's just show's the name (I'm sure he'll PM me his new Redland Bay h/cap ;))

at the mo, just to be better out of the bunkers, and chip a little bit more consistent.

AndyP

at the mo, just to be better out of the bunkers,This might be hard to master considering the amount of different courses you play.

I'll play great out of some bunkers, then really struggle with others (like Gailes).

I don't really know. Maybe sand, maybe the depth of the sand??? I've never really put that much thought into it.
At the same time, I don't really practice my bunker play.

andylo

To me is how fine (hardness) the sand, and the moisture within the sand.

Soft sand tend to plug ball, so if I know I am playin a soft sand course I tend to avoid bunker at all course... don't really care about harder sand.

Grunt
20th April 2007, 04:22 PM
have to say I like the sand to be consistent, I dont mind it firm if it is firm all through. I hate the crusty stuff you get sometimes or the soft powdery stuff with no sand underneath it. 1st bunker for the day is tough, got to work out what you have, after that you apply the correct shot for what you are in. I am pretty confident in the bunkers nowadays.

Iain
20th April 2007, 04:44 PM
Thats why you shuffle your feet in? To get a rough idea of what the texture of the sand is.

an honest Victorian would have been in from the beginning :smt023 rules like this are in place to prevent the individuals with ego problems from joining in only when they are going well.

anyway you are only 6 rounds off (say 3 weeks) getting back to 5 so i guess you can have your coupla days in the sun, as long as andyp gets off his bum and does an update.

Dunno what he is complaining about, there is only 15 people in it

teenage years yep, lowest of 4, consistently off 5 or 6... then stopped playing from age 21 til about 27 or 28

wish I had the short game from my teenage years, would make the game so much easier... my aim is to get back to a 5 or 6 and play to it relatively consistently... got a few years to achieve that goal

You don't improve when your handicap drops from 4 to 2, you just got your act together! Blake and Jack aren't worthy.

I've not met or played with Jack, so can't comment on his improvements other than to say well done! It's tough to drop those last couple of shots.

kpac and rusty are the two I've noticed improving the most. Both of them "hit the ball" as good as many single-figure players. kpac is an absolute flusher and has shown this by posting strong scores around tough tracks like brookwater. rusty has excellent course management and one of the sharpest short games I've seen. Both are likely to continue to heading south for some time to come and I'd bet they'll both be in single-figures this time next year.

AndyP would get an honorouble mention too. I don't see him on the list, but his recent drop to 9 hcap is very impressive for a guy who shuns practice, lessons, ebay and the lure of shiny new gear.

I gotta so some state-based solidarity here.

Jack used to be Melbourne's finest 4capper, but time had taken its' toll and he had drifted outwards, outwards to be a struggling 6. We all know how long it takes to go out and Jack spent some time in the wilderness.

Jack plays week in week out at a track that has tested many and found them wanting (like me), but it also attracts men who can play (like Jack) and I'm sure he has dropped these shots on days where the CCR is under par.

So now he is down in sight of 2 and has effectively halved his hcp from when he was Melbourne's finest 4 capper. Now he is merely another bloke off 3.

He has also improved his temprement, his porn collection and, I believe, his waistline - Vote 1 Jack for Most Improved!!!
