I'm looking for a game on Australia Day.
Any takers?
I was going to play Hartfield (again) but am not averse to a change of scenery.

Final Results.
1. Adlo 33
2. Veefore 29
3. Pieface 25
4. Yossarian 25

Pieface did really well considering he had never seen the course before.

Hartfield is easiest (and cheapest) for me but I'm open to suggestions. I haven't played a lot of other courses for a long time so anywhere is new and exciting to me when I get there. :D

Ha Ha, cool. I hate public holiday busyness, so it needs to be quiet.

I assume a members track is pretty quiet on Australia day?

I only have my own club to go by and it is a normal rebels comp day there. Even so, there are a lot more empty places in the arvo than usual.

I would prefer a members track as well. Public courses can be a real pain when they are busy.

I'm happy to play Hartfield if you are.

It is just a shade closer to home than my home track

That's true. though a group from hartfield did drive down there one saturday a couple of months ago, played in the morning and drove back in the arvo. All instead of their usual Hartfield round.

How does 12:17pm sound?

That is what I normally do. 90 mins drive with the new freeway for me (however I am conscious of your distance from the city!!)

12:17pm sounds great.

If you would prefer to play Bunbury I wouldn't mind. It would make a nice change and I might be able to talk one of my mates into coming along to share the fuel (if you don't mind an extra one in the group)

I have booked us for 12:17 at Hartfield.

Hartfield is. Prizes on tuesday's are over the bar.
The course is also technically open to the public as well so inviting non-handicapped guests to play "should" be ok too.

Ok. Well the booking is made at Hartfield for 12:17pm.
Adz is included in the comp on the day.
Pieface, You are certainly welcome. You can play but obviously not in the comp without a GA handicap.

I checked with the pro shop and basically anyone can play, as long as they can PLAY and I take responsibility for our group keeping up with the group in front.

The greens were great yesterday. I missed only two putts inside 10ft and none less than about 6ft. The greens were rolling so pure.

I played this morning in the 4BBB matchplay. We were melting by the 16th hole. Just under 5 hours is too much. Luckily my partner held up better than I did. I only won 2 holes on the back nine while he halved two of the last three to give us the 1 up win.

Enjoy your round JC. I am hoping to get out there myself on Friday to play in the twilight's after work.

Well, I just got home at 9:30pm. 3 rounds in 4 days and 14 hours at the course today is too much for this fat bastard. I definitely didn't drink enough today either. I started each 9 ok but faded badly over the last 4 holes on both sides. 29 was probably a flattering score in the end as I only hit 2 fairways all day. Adlo and I teamed well, each of us stepping up when the other had a bad hole until he took over on the last 5 or so. The greens were a bit slow which led to a lot of over reads in the group as they didn't break as much as the looked.

The course probably played its easiest today and was there for the taking. One member in the group behind us shot 68.

27th January 2010, 01:10 AM

Yep. And divots too. Ignorant and lazy. I fix at least 20 pitch marks each round and probably only 5 or 6 of those are mine.

MegaWatty
27th January 2010, 01:40 AM
I love repairing pitch marks. I donated 700 pitch repairers earlier in the year to the members. It's quite relaxing and satisfying repairing them. Although, it does make me angry when I know that I have given out tools for people to fix them themselves!!!!

Thanks for the invite out Veefore. I had an enjoyable day despite having a shocker.

I was thinking I might get back into the game on the back nine after playing the last 4 holes on the front 1 under handicap but wiping the first two on the back through stupidity (picked up a 8" putt when I still had a stroke and missing a similar length putt because I was yapping instead of concentrating) took the wind out of my sails.

Lots more work at the driving range for me

Thanks for the invite out Veefore. I had an enjoyable day despite having a shocker.

I was thinking I might get back into the game on the back nine after playing the last 4 holes on the front 1 under handicap but wiping the first two on the back through stupidity (picked up a 8" putt when I still had a stroke and missing a similar length putt because I was yapping instead of concentrating) took the wind out of my sails.

Lots more work at the driving range for me

Thanks for coming. I think the heat and the lack of breeze led to a few mistakes for all of us due to lack of concentration.

oh ok.
i thought maybe you were throwing the anchor so we don't h/c your @ss out of the WA Champs and MP.

No nothing like that. I am a bit pissed at how I played. Felt good but just played some stupid golf shots. Losing all confidence in my hybrids didn't help.

Still there is always the next round! 8)

Hartfield is still worse than Bunbury ;)

I wish I could say it was. I think the stuffy old man atmosphere that permeates Hartfield brought me down to a level that I am not suited to. ;)

Well it sure was stuffy. I found it more oppressive than the 40+ temp at Kwinana.

It was real nice of Yoss to suck like me so I didn't feel like the odd one out

Yoss, play like you did on Tuesday and you can play off 30. I'd still beat you.

mmm....Far too many lazy members at H'field. Veefore it is true mate, too many guys can't bend down to fix their pitchmarks.

Old men in beige cardigans, the lot of 'em !!!

yes, yes I'm sure you lot at mt. lawley would never even bother to repair your own pitchmarks either. You get the "help" to do it, how much does the "help" cost per game or do you just give them an old Pinnacle that you find in the rough for them to sell.
