Yep. Played 3 (don’t ask how 2 got there) and 5 from there to finish with 7 and +3 net. Golf is hard.

You or the big fella?
If it was the big fella it would have been the rocks 45° to 60° to the right.

We had a substitute in yesterday. He took his replacement job very seriously.

correct, it doesnt matter if your ball went backwards. the original spot is the original spot.

Got one hopefully someone can answer. If you play a shot from within a penalty area i.e think 3/4 empty dam and then flub ball forward into same penalty area but ball is lost.
Where do you drop outside of penalty area? Is it roughly equal with the position of lost ball?

See Rule 17.2 a) [17.2 b) may also be of interest],
If a ball played from a penalty area comes to rest in the same penalty area or another penalty area, the player may play the ball as it lies (see
Rule 17.1b).
Or, for
one penalty stroke, the player may take relief under any of these options:
(1)
Normal Relief Options. The player may take stroke-and-distance relief under
Rule 17.1d(1), back-on-the-line relief under
Rule 17.1d(2) or, for a red penalty area, lateral relief under
Rule 17.1d(3).
Under Rule 17.1d(2) or (3), the estimated point used to determine the relief area is where the original ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area where the ball now lies.

where it originally crossed into the hazard, which could be several shots previously !
i got stung by this one a few weeks ago, a massive gully runs all the length of the fairway. It was either go back to the tee or keep playing, took me 4 to get out, i didnt want to give up because i was at least going forward

What happens in this scenario...
I'm playing "Jim" in matchplay. I tend the flag for Jim while putting and dont "pull out" in time. His ball hits the pin then hits my foot. Does he replay the shot ?
This is the current rule...
When your ball in motion accidentally hits your opponent, their caddie or the opponent’s equipment, there is no longer a penalty and your ball is played as it lies (except on the putting green, where the stroke does not count and must be replayed) – you used to have the opportunity to cancel the stroke and replay it (this is now a consistent outcome across the Rules in all forms of play).

If you attempted to remove the pin, there is no penalty.
Play the ball as it lies, even though it hit the pin and your foot.
If you didn't attempt to remove the pin (but should have) then you get a penalty (not the player - you!).

Is there any such thing as tending the flag now ?

Thanks Benje !
How about if, myself and 'Jim' are playing matchplay and we are playing in a foursome, alongside a couple of players who are in the daily stableford comp (not affiliated with our matchplay). One of those players tends the pin for 'Jim' and the same scenario occurs ?

Sure is. I have played with a few people who still want it tended on a long putt (if someone is near by generally).

But why, is no penalty if it goes in , less foot marks around the hole if you just leave the flag in and get on with working out the line of your putt

Some people are adamant they dont want the flag in when the ball goes in. Don't ask me why, but not skin off my nose, so I'll tend it if I am nearby.

You get the general penalty. If you are in strokeplay then two shots. If you are in matchplay, you lose the hole. That is the general penalty
Note that if you deliberately deflect the ball putted on the green, you get the general penalty and the player replays their putt.

Thanks Baybum. Perhaps I should just tell you to read rule 11 and rule 13.

Ignores golf results on Sports Tonight
Can a rules guru clarify this please,
Playing match play,
A ball is marked on the putting surface using a tee leaving a small hole in the green.
Ball is lifted and tee is removed, leaving a hole where the tee was.
Is the tee hole a sufficient mark, spot to place the ball?
