That's still correct - no penalty, but can make them play it again if you want to. Which might be worthwhile just to rattle them.

Thanks Men
I should know this but I don't!
Hit a shot into our 18th yesterday and it landed on the tier. Green was soft so it imbedded in its own ball mark. Looking at it I was not sure the ball would stay in the correct spot once I repaired the pitch mark and replaced it.
In the end it did stay, but what is the rule if you can't get it to sit there?
New OB rule +2 strokes.
Bit of confusion on this one at our club. If you hit it OB and use the new +2 rule that allows you to drop back on the fairway. Is the reference point where it first crossed the OB or where in ended up.
Reading the rule it sounds like it’s your choice?

Yeah I saw that image but I’m wondering about the dropping where in ends up rather then went OB. Eg straight block right to OB. If you have to drop and where it first crossed compared to where it finished could be a big distance difference. Because it has or in the rule my understanding was you can choose
Two Estimated Reference Points:
(a). Ball Reference Point: The point where the original ball is estimated to have:
Come to rest on the course, or
Last crossed the edge of the course boundary to go out of bounds.
Ok I didn’t think about that makes sense now. Better have a big slice ob then to get the max distance lol
I’d have to check, but I’m pretty sure at our club if the ball is OB and you can actually see it we take it no closer to the hole from the point that it ended up and you drop on the edge of the fairway.
Yep, on 2nd look we are running MT’s options.
This one I think:

Very good point. Emerald Lakes had/has a lot of those, because a billion trees started rapidly growing wild on all the borders of the hazards, and got out of control. When they began hosting QLD PGA, the tour requested oil lines to mark hazards well away from the natural waters edge, so that nobody had to drop in spots that were just bollocks. AFAIK they still maintain this oil line ( oh my dont tell the greens). The problem with most clubs is they are run by amatuers, and most golfers dont care about appplying rules correctly so nothing gets done about these situations.
My pet hate is stakes outside hazards, so that it becomes quite confusing. What does a golfer do when the line between two stakes crosses over the water hazards natural lines. Does it make part ot the hazard casual water? ( no it doesnt).
This one if prob for andyP to answer as he will know the part I’m taking about. On the 7th at Wolston park there is a drainage ditch (all dirt hasn’t been sealed) the runs up the right side of the hole.
Few questions,
if you land it this or it affects your stance do you get a drop?
If it has water in it can you claim casual water?
If the concrete pipe at then end affects stance/stroke does this change the ruling?
It's not in the local rules. No stakes, from memory, therefore play it as it lies, although casual water would apply. The man made obstruction rule should apply to the concrete, and a drop would be allowed.
