It looked brutal a week ago. Read somewhere this morning someone involved in course prep was thinking +8 could be a winning score.
Personally I think that's too much. I'd prefer the winner to be under par.

Because watching golfers rack up bogey after bogey isn't very exciting.
I just saw the end of the 2006 highlights on Fox, where Ogilvy won with 5 over. If it is the same this time, there will be a lot of complaining from the players, and perhaps from spectators like me. But not me. I'm realistic enough to know that some fans like that sort of thing, and besides, it's only one week per year.
For the record, I'll predict that one of the really big boys will win, either DJ, Rahm or Justin Thomas. Either that, or someone completely out of left field with a Furyk style game, like Chez Reavie or Branden Grace.

Just pretend it’s a par 85. Then it’ll be fun to watch

Ogilvy won with a score of +5, which was really -3 on the normal scorecard.

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

Not sure what the fuss is about, nothing new here.. The US Open regularily was crazy fast greens and rough so deep that the only option was hack it out to the fairways. recently the players have been getting it so easy has made everyone forget this.

Never known the US Open course's to be a cake walk, where everyone shoots sub par rounds and finishes 20 under. As usual social media creates a stir about nothing.

When was the last “truly” brutal US Open?
Oakmont?
Shinnecock wasn’t exactly brutal.
Olympic Club?
There’s a place for it and Winged Foot is that place because the greens are an amazing, unflinching piece of architecture.
I heard a brilliant assessment today and it was “...these guys could play this place as a par 3 course and it would STILL be an interesting spectacle.”

Zalatoris top 10 was my only bet too. Would be great to see.

He kills it around Nudgee though and it will soon be on par with Winged Foot.

Well so much for the hideous rough. Not once did i see a player just hack out back into play. They just go for the green anyway, obviosly the rough isnt penalising enough.

Was only 61 players on Saturday and it appears the guy taking the video focused on serial offenders first , so no I don't have other footage.
