Great batting from England the last 2 days and their young offspinner in his 4th Test takes the first 4 wickets for just 22. Cracking effort so far.

I'm glad I'm not the person responsible for paying Pat Cummins 3 million for the IPL. He sure didn't look like a 3 million man last night.
While 20/20 pitches tend to give the fast guys a bit more than they used to, I still find it hard to see any fastie as a matchwinner worth top dollar. I understand the money going to the Kohli, Dohni, Rohit superstar batsman, but not the bowlers. Besides, if I did have to give money to an Aussie paceman, I'd favour Starc because he swings it more than Cummins does.
On the same track, I'm glad it wasn't my money going into AB De Villiers pocket. He hasn't delivered much so far. To be fair, there may be a valid argument that he brings extra money through the gate, but maybe not for much longer.

AB played a woeful shot last night and i reckon he will be rather determined to make up for it. The last games will be interesting.

I was going to post something about the mess South African cricket is in, even more so now it is Philander's last test.
But Ben Stokes has stolen all the limelight by showing his true class off the field. Twitter has some very funny variations, mainly based on the bizarre use of the phrase 'four-eyed'.

Any chance that the Heat could put in a good performance for a match that I have gone to?
Make sure they haven't the game before, for starters and possibly the two before lol

Going to a match outside of the state would probably help too.
When there has been nothing else on TV, I've been watching the under 19 World Cup.
What for me was more interesting were the highlights they just showed in the innings break, of the 2014 event, with Australia and South Africa. The only South Africans I have heard of were Aidan Markram and Kagiso Rabada, but I'm not a follower of SA domestic cricket, so maybe some of the others have gone on to good careers.
But the Australia strike rate of success was very low. The only guys I've heard of are Billy Stanlake, Matt Short, Ben McDermott and Jake Doran. Of those, only McDermott and Stanlake are star players. What happened to the rest, I wonder?
These guys would all be 23 now, so I would think if they were going to become successful cricketers they would have emerged at state or 20/20 level by now. It would seem that success at youth level is no guarantee of future performance.

Good win by the Sixers - glad to see the Stars got the chance to choke in the final rather than being able to whinge they were ripped off by the rain.
I love cricket, but I'm actually happy to see the end of the BBL. Went on far too long this year, and interest in all quarters seemed to wane dramatically.

And the Kiwi's are back. Fantastic win, i wonder if they can back it up in the next and last Test of the series.

India whupped again. King Kohli 38 runs from 4 bats. Nice all round start to his Test career by Kyle Jamieson. Southee and Boult rampant with the pill in a difficult batting series.
Great bounce back by the Kiwi's after getting humiliated out here.

It is hard to disagree with that, particularly the pleasure at seeing the villain getting himself brought down to earth.
There is one aspect that really troubles me in terms of the wider view of test cricket. Yet again, a team looks unbeatable in favourable conditions at home. We have seen NZ get carved up in Australian conditions, but at home they are very good.
What do we do about it? Should we do anything about it? Will it eventually get down to playing tests on neutral grounds to prevent home ground advantage?

Maybe get rid of the toss, away team chooses in the first test and in subsequent tests until they win. At that point it reverts to the home team.
I like the idea of away team chooses first game, then losing side chooses every game there after.
By the same token part of being a great team is the ability to win away. Our great team of not so long ago were able to beat India at home in a fantastic display. The great West Indian team were able to win all over the place. I'm a bit mixed on it all.

Finally, after 4 months of replays that nobody watched, we have some real cricket back on the screen. England v West Indies.
Except we haven't because of English weather.

I'm supposed to be at Lord's this Saturday watching the Aussies v the Poms, damn Rona
Exceptional stuff today from Michael Holding today, whats a superstar he is.
Good series win today - wasn't expecting that Maxie and Carey would come to the rescue.
It was a nothing series, but the result was quite positive nonetheless considering the Australian team were all coming in completely under-prepared and the English side were rolling well at the end of a fairly full summer.
First home ODI series the Poms have lost in 5 years.
