Are goods damaged in transit considered a warranty issue?
Bought a monitor, which was delivered late Jan, and opened last Thursday as it was a gift for someone, and the screen was cracked (behind the front layer; you can't feel the crack at all)
Was in brissie yesterday so I took it back to the store who said their warranty people will have to assess it.
Obviously they are claiming it was broken by us, and I rang today to escalate it and they ended up getting back to me saying that gigabyte were sent the photos and have assessed it was not broken in transport but a user error
What I'm having trouble determining, is if something is broken in transit is that actually a warranty claim/issue? I'm thinking not, but I'm not 100% sure.
Will ring them tomorrow to sort this out, and I want my ducks in a row.

It would be a courier insurance issue, wouldn't it?

That's what I would have thought? But the reality is, it could have happened any time, even when it was packed in it's box 6 months ago, or whenever.. All I know is open box and screen had a crack. The stores warranty team sent the pics and info to manufacturer, who have said it's our fault.
Just more calls to make tomorrow.

Tricky one, the expectation is goods damaged in transit needs to be reported immediately, otherwise they are suspicious people would try and pull a swifty.
It comes down to how badly the retailer wants to keep the customer.

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

We spend a lot with them, by our standards! But not a lot by theirs.
I'll just have to see what happens tomorrow! And yeah, it is a bit tricky this one!

"and we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T'Bird away"....
Won't let me speak to someone in a store, won't let me talk to the service and warranty department directly, will only relay messages to and from them to me via a mum with screaming baby working from home.
Manufacturers warranty specifically states it does not cover goods damaged in delivery.
Checked the shipping and it was collected on 19/1, later that day was on its way to Toowoomba, was delivered on 25/1 at 12.03pm
