Magenta Shores. Kooindah Waters. Shelly Beach is cheaper but rounds can be slow. Has some nice views.

I may be able to help to get on Magenta below the current $220+ or if not staying at resort

Terrigal RSL has a course, which I expect is a middle of the road country nine holer.

Plays socially on a regular basis
Yes it is or was. Winds in and around creeks. I reckon it will be wet based on regular play 20-30 years ago but someone may have played it more recently.

From what I understand they were raising the price of visitor rounds (not connected with the hotel) who weren't guests of members.
I think this was due to tee sheet pressures and also the fact it was a private club which was not that private and it started to annoy the members.
Guest of member is a lot less. But I was told it was going to be $200 or $220 or something for the visitor rate.

I've been critical in the past of the conditioning of the course, but it's really starting to shine.
It's also a top 35 Australian private club, so I don't know what the visitor rate is elsewhere at similar clubs if you were to not be at the resort or a members guest

That takes the shine off playing Magenta Shores once a month as a visitor and having a handicap maintained at Howlong.

Played Magenta today.. and it was mint.
It is a brutal course though and full of local knowledge holes.
The ninth hole is just nuts.. 175 in - uphill on a par 4 of the front tees into a 25km wind.
and we were 90m in front of the plates... what happens on medal day ???/
