This was probably the best experience of the three - the course was literally empty. There was only one other person out there, and I therefore had as much time to take photos (somewhat badly) as I needed. Admittedly, it was misting with rain at times and pretty windy, but still pleasant overall. If you are thinking of coming to Scotland for golf, consider coming in early November. It is off peak, the courses are both cheaper and largely empty, and the weather (been here for nearly a month now) has been much better than expected.
Looks like North Berwick to me. You've definitely ticked all the boxes there.
I've got to come back to Glasgow in August next year - I was thinking about trying to fit in a quick game down at Troon, but am now instead thinking about coming back over to North Berwick instead.

Was thinking about stopping in at Mussellburgh Old Course just for a quick photo opportunity - it is only five minutes by train away, so may get a chance to do that tomorrow or Friday.
