Mt Compass, Saturday October 27 12:00 noon (Peppas visit)
Hello SAnkers,
As previously discussed our next installment takes us to the much improved Mount Compass GC (formerly known as Fleurieu GC).
Course has confirmed there will be no coring (anytime this year, interesting), so we should expect the course to be cherry ripe considering the time of year.
I have booked two groups, with the first tee off commencing @ 12noon, hopefully from the back plates (as IMO the course seems to play so much better from the tips)
The local GL comp closes @ 11AM so no luck there however 'Chris' has noted we can play in the Sunday / Mon / Tuesday comp if anybody wishes to for a small fee
Perhaps we should fight it out in our own in-house comp for the red jacket (ala 'mini champs'), lets see how the numbers pan out first
Green Fee (excluding any comps) sits @ $45 per person
1. Peppas
2. TC
3. Wazamac
4. Hatchy Fancypants
5. HP
6. Coalesce (Very dark pencil)
7. Nadg (9 holes only, joining group from 10th tee)
Will decide on groups tomorrow along with any games

Grades Champs set back this year due to October being 'Golf Month'. I think we're supposed to be having some kind of ambrose that morning at Royal North Haven. Not sure when it's likely to finish. Pencil me in please TC.

Pencil me in TC - even if I do not end up playing/chopping I'll venture out for a catch-up

Where are you starting from and when Peppas? Bit hard to say something is on the way otherwise
Mt Compass itself has at least one decent bakery. Not Yankalilla standard but perfectly good enough

I believe that was Vilis who makes a great Kitchener; we can head there after I collect you (and potentially Jono I guess) from the airport

Nah, although we did stop there, we also stopped at the mt compass bakery just past the golf course turn off.

If stopping at villis then surely a pie floater is a must.

I知 sure one of us can host you Sunday morning, otherwise we can head to Links Lady Bay that is ranked in the top 100

Plays with an ex-hire set
I have to visit the new RAH on the 25th. Also due to get back to Victor Harbor to visit my Bro & Sis In-law so I would love to join in. I will need to book a cart so there is a spare seat if there are any more cripples in need. Have not played Mt Compass since it was only 9 holes.

Likewise. I need to get away and play some different courses. Might just keep going all the way to Black Bull.

Victor Harbor is not far from Compass and is a nice valley course, really good in the early morning when it's just you and the kangaroos
Lady Bay is also a good option, some stunning holes but also some boring ones too, still top 100 in Australia so worth a game
Wirrina Cove is ok, reminds me alot of Kooralbyn in QLD, conditioning issues largely due to low budgets
I would give Black Bull a miss and head down the Limestone Coast (Mt Gambier, Naracoorte & Millicent) some seriously underrated tracks down that way!

Is Black Bull over rated, seems to get a lot of press?
I was a member at Victor Harbor for about 12 years and will be going back after Mt Compass. Hope to get down to Lady Bay as it was only just being built prior to me leaving the area.
Love the SE courses and Bordertown had some of the best greens in the State 20 odd years ago. Meningie is a possibility too as I have not played it before.

Yep, black bull is overrated. It's not terrible, but it gets a bit repetitive.
Worth playing if in the area, but I'd pick Corowa or Murray Downs over it.
