Lowood GC, Flag format, Sat Feb 13, 7:28a
Lowood is having a flag format comp in a couple of weeks, and I'm keen to give it a go. Flag format is rarely played, probably because of the logistics of doing it on a full course. If you don't know, basically you are given your handicap plus par shots to get around the course as far as you can, and place the flag where you finish. For example, if you were playing off 8 on a par 72 course, you would get 80 shots. If you finished the 18 holes in 78 shots, you would get to play off the first again, and place the flag where your second shot finishes.
I seem to recall maybe playing it once at Nambour, and having my shots run out on the 18th. I saw this in their fixture book a little while ago and pencilled it in. Anyone want to join me? It would be a morning round.

You might want to practice beforehand if you're going to have a day out like that.
Regarding the course, it is nine holes with separate tees for each nine. I thought the different tees gave the holes enough of a different look. In early December, the fairways were a bit bare with preferred lie, and the greens were long to protect them, but rolled well enough. It seemed pretty open to me, which allowed you to get away with having a bad day off the tee.

I remember it clearly for a few reasons:
It was the first Comp game I played in with the Adults since getting a handicap.
The weird format. Being a small club anyone that went past the 18th waited for any others and everyone still in it went down the first together.
I won and it was my first trophy. 43 piece Cutlery Set.
After sitting around in storage for a number of years before I finally used it, I'm still using it to this day.
So you're in, or just pencil at this stage?

Just the two of us so far, but I haven't checked with my mate yet. Anyone else, before I contact the club for a tee time?

Tee time booked for 7:28a, and two spots available with us, if there is any late interest.

Sorry Andy but I can’t make this now. Apparently not everybody in my life is prepared to wait until Sunday to live theirs.

Selfish pricks!
If noone else is in, I'll give them a call to release the spot.

I might disown them.
