Howlong Golf Club
Gday,
Is anyone a Remote Golf member of Howlong Golf Club. If so, can you play open days in Sydney? Or will some clubs not accept you?
Thanks for your help guys.
Cheers

I suspect that Howlong is far enough away to get away with it (unlike Riverside Oaks etc). Only drama will be if enough people cotton on to it then the clubs will realise what is happening. If all the club asks for is a GolfLink number, then you'll get away with it for a few years at least.

Howlong used to have the most members of any club in the country. So long as you are not claiming recips at your local track then there should be no problems using your membership there as a key to getting on elsewhere.

Yes, that makes sense.... however, certain Brisbane clubs took offence to letting players with such memberships play in open events. The vibe was that they begrudged the low cost of the memberships and felt they shouldn't be entitled to the same privileges as 'normal' members. I don't agree with the sentiment, for what it's worth.

Bv - the Howlong membership is a full membership. But private clubs should retain the right to approve or deny anyone playing on their course.

Next time I drive back to Albury I need tips from titleist on the quickest way there.
The lads are using a form of country membership. Don't ever need to set foot on the premises.

Mate, i know where Howlong is you numbnut, im from Griffith so ive driven past it 100 times!
Just saying, GolfBallWhackerGuy is from Sydney and from memory he works not far from Botany.
It would make sense to join there (its only 9 holes) to get cheap membership so he can play open days, its bugger all, and last time i heard they throw in $200 bar tab each year to use!

I hear what youre saying, but I dont get out to play much anymore. I probably play once every 6 weeks now if Im lucky. But when i do, I want to play with my mates but they only play comps so getting a cheap membership somewhere just to maintain an AGU and be able to play open comps is what I need at the moment. Once I get the chance to play a bit more, I'll likely sign up for a full membership closer to home.

Botany or Randwick would be the go?
Dont you work around the Eastern Suburbs?

In a ten round split, its howlong ten, binalong minus ten. I would not want to walk from Howlong to Binalong!

Ok, gotcha!
There are plenty of NSW country tracks with cheap membership, may have to just find out which ones have reciprical rights to where??

On my way to Howlong GC tomorrow for a few days. Last time I played there I could barely see the course through all the locusts.
