Oki's Swing
Thought I give this a try for some feed back
My previous swing was more of a hit miss situation, with a more out in casting style of swing; with a strong right hand grip. So most of my shots have been pretty low runners. Consistency has been my major issue at the end of the day, as if my timing is good, its a great day, but most of the time it is pretty much everywhere.
My general shots would feel thin and I more of a picker, so no divots most of the time.
My swing speed is average 100mph with the driver, but my 7i is going 130m (traditional lofts) to 150m (with GI irons);
So.... new year, new swing and grip style.
I have been working on moving my right grip to a more neutral position. with the grip more on the middle of the right 3rd and 4th finger instead of a baseball grip. A smaller grip was recommended by the pro as my fingers are not long enough.
working on the tucking in right shoulder on the back swing, but the issue I have is still with the "dropping" of the hands on the downswing.
My other issue I am working on is the sway right on the back swing (more obvious on the longer irons) and trying to "hit down" at the ball.
my video with a PW
The short irons up to 8 irons have been pretty good, but still working on the 7i and above, as I still have the tendancy to thin the shots.

Using the Youtube settings to slow the replay speed to .25.
Have a look at your takeaway.
To me;
the face is hooded/closed all the way
you are taking it back well inside
First checkpoint is shaft at horizontal in the takeaway - hooded and inside. The Toe should be pointing to the sky and the shaft plane should be inline with your shoulders and down the target line.
Second checkpoint at the Top - hooded and inside - Toe should be pointing vertically and shaft should be " laying" between your shoulders and back of head i.e. more upright This is the result of the inside hooded takeaway at checkpoint one.
Your swing then becomes a recovery action - hence the poor contact results.
You need to drill the takeaway. There are plenty, but basically the old alignment stick/shaft in the ground to keep you more outside should do it.
The Walk Through Drill will help the sway tendency.
Once you have drilled the takeaway and get it somewhere near corrected; at address forget about everything behind the ball (your body will remember) and focus on the shot your want to hit and the resultant follow through needed. Practice the follow through finish needed and then hit it. Simples!

Not too me. You hands could hang a fraction lower/closer (under your chin), but otherwise nothing looks too out of Kilter to me.

7i - all 3 shots were high with a slight draw. The type of shots I am looking for. more bruising of the grass rather than the pitch marking shots.
went to the range for a quick few hit; narrower stance with the 7 iron ; looking at the video, I think I have a very slight sway back today
concentrated on the arm drop on the down swing.

You need to get the clubhead outside the hands on the takeaway. It will give you a lot more room to get out of your own way.

Thanks Dave. Makes more sense.
I guess previously my take away was more upright so I tried to compensate too much.
Will work on this

Are you too close to it, especially after you’ve hit it?
