    Default 2023 PGA Tour

This post is mainly a thread starter and a celebration of the return of golf to our TV's after a period of drought. Some pundits like the concept of a proper off-season. Not me, I want to see meaningful golf all the time.

For me, the event itself is one of the least interesting on tour. Usually the best thing about this one is the coverage of whales and surfers and the like.

Sadly, with the new two tier schedule, there will probably be plenty of worse events, with ultra-weak fields, this year. But its better than nothing.

I’d rather 20 tournaments with 19 of the top 20 than 40 tournaments with 5 of them.

Until they do otherwise I’m happy to accept they’ll do what they say they’re going to do. That’s the agreement they’ve come to. There are 20 elevated events, they can take 1 off.

I like Kapalua. Looks a fun course, lots of elevation changes, and great players.

Watched a bit yesterday, and yes, I still want to play there.

Unlike 50% of TPC Whatever's, this place looks fun.

Is it a choke if the winner shoots -10 to your -1?

Given the shots Collin hit, yes it was a big time choke

Absolutely. It's a small choke considering the others around him shot -10, -9, -7, -4, -5, -7, 6, but nowhere near the all time great gags.

The stats might not show how bad, it was a choke of Normanesque proportions.

According to the announcers he joins a very small group of players in PGATOUR events who were 1st round leaders to miss the cut.

Something like 3 or 4 of them.

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

Pebble is always just about the worst event of the year, considering the scenery, with endless interviews with Bill Murray and slo-mo analysis of Ray Romano's swing, etc.

It seems it will be even less entertaining because we shouldn't see death-defying golf like last year. But it'll be safer.
