I have been researching LMs a bit more, looks like a radar based one would be no good for me unless I was prepared to put up plasterboard or chipboard in my shed to stop interference, and even that is not guaranteed.
Looks like a camera based LM is the only way forward for me unless there is a cheap and suitable way to prevent interference in my shed.

You also need more room behind you and between you and the net for radar LMs. Camera-based ones like SkyTrak need less room, but rely on decent lighting (although the lighting in my garage is pretty poor but it still works well).
Check out the PRGR new 2021 model HS-130, getting good reviews. It also can measure clubhead speed without hitting a ball, so obviously good for indoors. It goes for $330 AUD sold locally ( google knows where)
Yeah you need like 7-8 feet behind and 8-9 feet in front, certainly doable in the shed, it is like 9 by 6m, but a camera based LM would make it a lot easier.
Also could do it outside (live on 2 acres) or under the shed carport, but would prefer a semi permanent setup in the shed.

If I get a launch monitor it will need to be able to show back and side spin pretty accurately, and be able to do simulation, as I won't be able to play regularly for some time the simulation is a must, and to be useful spin and direction are essential.
None of this is a big deal as I have a lot of saving to do before I will be in a position to buy anything, and there may be new products out by then.
All of this is a pipe dream unless I save up for it, but if I did get an LM I would want it to read spin and direction fairly accurately, and have the ability to do simulation as well.
As I will not be able to play regular golf for a few years yet (unless I win the lotto) a decent LM would allow me to play and practice at any time, the Skytrak and Mevo Plus are on the top of my wish list as they have everything I need for useful practice and the ability to play simulated golf (this is becoming a theme for me, I also have a car racing sim )
I would be leaning towards the Mevo Plus if it wasn't for the likely interference issues in my shed, a foresight LM would be awesome but is also a lotto dream.
Research so far
Garmin R10
Pros - Affordable, good battery life, simulation capable (probably the cheapest that can do simulation), reasonably accurate for carry, ball and club speed, swing video capture via mobile device.
Cons - Setup important and can be hard to get right due to using a small line on the device, needs more space than camera LMs, doesn't capture spin, and it's spin calculations can be out by quite a bit, also struggles with direction at times, ongoing costs to use simulation.
Skytrak
Pros - Accurate ball data, simulation, requires far less space than radar LMs.
Cons - More expensive than cheaper radar LMs, can struggle outdoors in sunlight, ongoing costs to use simulation, longer delay after hitting ball than other LMs mentioned.
Mevo Plus
Pros - Good ball data when setup correctly, swing video capture via mobile device, built in camera for target alignment. Skills app, 17 practice ranges and 5 golf courses included (iOS), no ongoing costs for included practice, skills app and golf courses.
Cons - More expensive than cheaper radar LMs, Needs more space than camera LMs, may not work in a shed without insulation.
Bushnell Launch Pro
Pros - Very accurate ball data, some club data, simulation.
Cons - $1000 US more expensive than Skytrak and Mevo Plus, Min cost of $100 per year to use, up to $799 per year to unlock full functions which will double the cost of the device in less than 4 years.
Foresight GC3
Pros - Very accurate ball data, some club data, full simulation software including 10 courses, no ongoing sub costs required to use
Cons - $7000 US

Foresight it is! Charge some of the boys here a few bucks/beers to come use it if they want to double check their numbers and you will be in black in no time
Went and had a look at the newest golf studio in town last night

Two full trackman set ups, being run by the McLeod Pro. Its a great setup, but won't be for me on the membership model thats used.
Anyone know what a bay like that is worth to set up properly? It was really impressive (but I am a rookie at this stuff)

He’ll go broke within 18 months
Same type of place just launched in Gold coast and sydney. One of them is called Golf24. Similar pricing model. You would have to use them often to make it worth it, otherwise cheaper to get a trackman for 50 bucks an hour which is the going rate around here at several places.
The 24/7 availability is interesting but unlikely people will use it beyond mid evening and with the covid rules I think he will need someone there all the time so it will probably ratchet back to a 9-9 model which is the same as the driving range (with heaters) just down the road from it. The pricing model looks over optimistic and will need to change if he’s to avoid going broke.
Looks like something similar is being set up in Sydney, Alexandria…..

yes i agree, but Who would have though Topgolf would succeed considering how much the spend on the build? ( not me) And yet they are money printing machines.
I think the gold coast one the bays are too close together. I would rather have each bay more enclosed. Www.facebook.com/golf24australia
Yes i know, topgolf or driving ranges there are other people close by too. i cant explain the vibe, i guess its like when you have a whole range to yourself and some dropkick comes along amd sets up right next to you instead of far away.
I think driving ranges and trackman facilities are really poles apart golf wise….
Even worse when two dropkicks setup next to you and one starts "coaching" the other despite having no idea what he's talking about.
It's hard to stop laughing and concentrate ........
I'm a member here and really enjoy it. Don't do the kiddy sim stuff just the trackman, all the info and videos go to my tablet so I can sit up at night and go through every shot after every session. My coach (yep) logs in and tells me what's working what's not and can watch me practice live. I get value considering I was spending more on a couple of buckets a week at the range.

I just visited Golf24 here on Gold Coast for the complimentary tour and try out, and FWIW if you are around here, its definitely worth having a look. Lots to like and nothing to dislike. Not even a hard sell at the end he just asks you to sign up online from home, after which there is one more free session for onboarding.

I was going to buy a Garmin for $800, but I got nowhere to use it, except a driving range with dud golf balls and its not very good anyway.
Compared to access to top of the line trackman, for $190 + $25 a session. If I use it once a month for a year, I am in front. I will give it a go for a year
