I'd love to Poidda, but have heaps of crappy meetings on Friday.

Any love for Saturday 6 September?

Fair enough. I might be able to do Saturday the 6th. Let me double check with the boss, but pencil me in at this stage.

What are the options for a Saturday is the question?

    Not to mention Pine Rivers.

Seriously, my wife is ready to pop, and I don't want to be too far from home in case I get the feared phone call of "Honey, get me to the hospital NOW!"

As an incentive, if that happened on the 1st, we'd say you won 10/8, and 69 would lose his banner!

I really don't want to forfeit, but the way things are going it may be the easiest result.

Update - game on at Caboolture 6/9/08 6.35am!

Monthly medal too, so it's a stroke round anyway. I checked and visitors are allowed. There was one space still open so if there is a third person interested ...

    At long last, it's over!

BW was about 2 minutes from winning by forfeit. Poidda decided the quickest way to Caboolture was via Bribie Island, but he just made it in time. (The rest of the threesome had already teed off and we realised we were early so we waited for a couple of minutes just in case Poidda arrived - and he did!)

    To the golf!

10th Poidda seemed a little rushed after his timely arrival, but his bogey didn't equal BW's par. BW 1 up

    11th Shared bogeys (BW's was a 3 putt.)

12th Poidda had a solid par to BW's scrambly double bogey. Square

13th Both almost greenside for 2. BW had 5 brain explosions for a triple bogey, Poidda made a solid bogey. P 1 up

14th Almost a mirror reverse of 13. Westy got up and down for par from the fringe while Poidda doubled. Square

15th BW tried to go out of bounds but failed (just). His provisional ball would have been even worse, as it ended hard up against a tree. Both ended up on for 3 for 2 putt bogeys.

16th Poidda made a really solid tap in par, while BW had a 3 putt double. P 1 up

17th Both parred after leaving our 3rd shots at the back fringe of the green.

18th Poidda missed long right, BW went left bunker after saying they've got the pin in a sucker position. Poidda got up and down for par. BW blasted out and 2 putted - P 2 up at the turn.

1st Halved with bogeys after Poidda tried playing the second fairway and BW flirted with the dam.

2nd After 3 shots Poidda was on the front fringe and Westy was up the back of the green about 20m away from the flag down the front. BW thought he'd left his putt short but it just crawled over the edge of the flat, took the slope and wandered down into the cup for par. Poidda bogeyed but the margin was back to one.

3rd I think I made Poidda mad at this point. Both on in regulation, Poidda had cleverly chipped and run from under a shrub to be about 5m from the hole. He declined my request for gimme when I was 25m from the hole (after the last hole I thought it was a reasonable ask), so I 2 putted for par. Poidda bagged the birdie putt to go 2 up with 6 to play.

4th Westy was on the fringe while Poidda was about 8m from the flag in regulation. BW chipped on, but it was all to no avail because Poidda nailed another putt for birdie to really turn up the heat. 3 up.

5th Westy got a shot (the pedants in the audience will say it should have been on the 14th) but it didn't matter. Poidda got up and down from the fringe for par, while BW had a 2 putt bogey. 3 and 4

6th Poidda unleashed the beast off the tee, but we both ended short of the green for 2. Chipped on Poidda had the chance to settle things 4 and 3 but had his only real putter stutter for the day, and we halved with bogeys for dormie 3.

7th Poidda went right which was a surprise, he'd managed his round really well to here. BW just avoided the left hand scrub and rolled into the fairway. Poidda then tugged his ball from well above his feet into the short hazard left of the green for a penalty, eventually walking off with a double. BW got away with a 2 putt par, but Poidda was still in the box seat at 2 up with 2 to play.

8th BW missed the green to the left, Poidda's ball just landed over the bunker but rolled back into the sand. Both chipped to about 4m. BW sank a slightly left to right putt for par to load pressure on Poidda, but it was all to no avail as Poidda showed he was more than up to the challenge by sinking an equally difficult putt to halve the hole and kick Westy's butt out of the matchplay 2 and 1.

9th - The pressure off, Poidda hit his ball into the creek on 5, took a drop, hit his ball back onto the 9th where it was never seen again, went back, hit another and finished with his worst score for the round. BW 3 putted from not very far for double.

Scores - Poidda 82/71, BrisWesty 86/73 on a very blustery day with swirling winds. 71 would be pretty good for a prize if not to win division today.

Whoever plays Poidda next needs to do something to Poidda's putter. I think he only had about 26 putts for the round, and they weren't just tap ins either. He was rock solid all day. He was also hitting the driver sweeet!

Thanks Poidda for the game, it was a lot of fun and played in good spirits, glad you enjoyed your first look around Caboolture.

13th is looking pretty good now. The area under the power lines on 14 and 15 are still a little impacted by the works associated with the water grid. 15 is still operating as a straight 300m par 4 rather than a 480m dogleg par 5.

Rusty and Jarro, it was VERY windy!

Yeah cheers for the game Westy. It was nice to play a new track and I really enjoyed it. I never thought I'd ever say it, but my putter is what won it in the end. The chicken bone popped it's head up on the 16th hole, and I'm gald it was all over on the 17th.
