We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Thurston on form is the best player in Australia IMO and i will feel quite good about him being in the next. I didn't think he went too bad, hate to see the scoreline without him.

We missed Locky terribly tho, needed his clear head and guidance around the park.

    1 Hunt
    2 Slater
    3 Hodges
    4 Inglis
    5 Folau
    6 Lockyer (or Thurston)
    7 Prince.

    4 Hodges
    5 Tate

    7 Thurston

Inglis back to the wing for his electric finishing with Folau inside him at center. With two playmakers the backs will get better ball and guys like Inglis will have their room. We don't need to go silly, just get that second playmaker in and minor adjustments in the backline.

I'll disagree here. Prince is a pure halfback whereas Thurston has the ability to play either spot. In fact, he spent most of his time at the Bulldogs in 5/8. It's only a number, however, and shouldn't affect either one from playing their natural game.

Ok, a big follower today told me Prince has played a decent amount of 5/8. I'm happy to go quietly on this one. The selectors did indeed say they only consider Prince a half.

Actually Courty, i just read this from Wayne Bennett the day before the team was announced

"Scott Prince is one of the best team players I have ever coached. We couldn't be that silly. He was a five-eighth and he used to play five eighth - that was his preferred position, and he's just a great team player. I had him here for three years so I've seen enough of him and he could have made the Australian team.
So 5/8 is actually his preferred position. Why in gods name he wasn't there i will never know lol

I really think that they will not bring him back into the side, the QLD selectors would have to admit they were wrong. QLDers never admit they are wrong.

By the way who are the QLD selectors nowadays?

Not really, they almost got the selections right.

It was only the execution from the players that was really the difference on wednesday night.

Price will make a massive difference, he dominated the NSW forwards last year (with a little help from his mate Petero).

I think the team QLD picked for game 1 can get the job done for game 2, with the only changes being the inclusion of Price and Lockyer (if fit). The QLD forwards know they got jumped on Wednesday and will be fired up to get square at home. If they can set a platform the Blues will really struggle. I'm not sure if NSW have the team to be able to chase points if QLD get an early lead.

Blaming the ref is getting a little tired. He did a pretty good job, and for the most part was consistent in his interpretations. You can't expect the interpretations to change each year to suit the team you've picked and the style of play that will give you the biggest advantage.

Who cares, they'll be deserving favourites yet again, Blues will lead at some stage and then we wait
