So nearly home from my walk with Bambi and I can tell she's busting and I don't have a plastic bag with me. So I decide to run the 200mtrs up hill to my house. I pretty much haven't run across a road in about a year now. Holy shit, I thought I was gonna die! Bloody hell......

Probably not uphill. Under 25s would be handy.

I bet if felt longer for the dog.

(Assuming Bambi is a dog, of course. My Dad has a dog named Bambi - I remember when my wife first found out she said "It sounds more like a porn star than a dog's name")
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

No, the dog loved it as much as I thought she would. She was bounding around with a "what the hell, this is awesome" demeanour. Part of the reason I convinced Rob we should get a border collie again (I only have bc's) was because I would take her running. Well, that turned out bunk!
And 'Bambi' was picked by Rob and the kids - I didn't want it but was out voted. You wouldn't believe the amount of times people ask me if she is a boy or girl after hearing her name....

First parkrun this morning down at the regatta centre in Penrith. 2 x 2.5km laps of Cross country with a few hilly-ish bits, but I'd never seen the track before so had no idea how to pace myself.

25:46. 2nd lap I had a few 30-45 second walk "intervals", but other than that was reasonably happy with how I fared.

Next run there is a full lap of the main rowing lake, so sub-25 mins should be fairly straightforward.

Nice work, KJ. I've done over 80 parkruns now, and they are a great event to get to.

So........... About a month or so ago just after leaving the exercise physio my left knee got pretty sore. Took a long time to settle, was taking Mobic for it and eventually site my physio for it, who thought I'd aggravated the cartilage on my left knee cap. It did start to settle a bit, but I brought it up with my surgeon at our next appointment a couple of weeks ago. So we got an MRI of it too. On the weekend, playing with the dog or got pretty sore again. Anyway, appointment again on Tuesday and he says I'm not gonna be happy.

So the report says I have grade 3 chrondalmasia of my left knee cap, and I also have a tear on the inside of my left cartilage too. But he says at least it's all not as bad as my right!

His recommendation is to do nothing about it, unless it say starts bothering me at work. In which case he can go in and scope it pretty quick. But looks like it's just management for now.....

I also now have orthotics in my cycling shoes, and the podiatrist who did my bike and orthotics for has given me some stretches to do, as well as ordered me to get onto a foam roller!
The foam roller hurts like buggery, but it's even less pretty watching me try and get up of the floor. It don't look dainty, that's for sure!

You're a mess! It must be pretty shitty not being able to get out and do much at all. What exercise can you do at the moment?

My backs getting better, so I need to start swimming again. And over the last couple of weeks I've been able to stand up on the pedals again when cycling, so I'm gonna rejoin my group again. Lotsa walking. I've noticed on the trainer that the orthotics in my cycling shoes have greatly stabilised my right leg movement. In the end, I should be able to cycle fine. But you have to ride 3 or 4 times as long as you run to get the same benefit..... and nothing is as good for my head as running, and nothing takes the weight of the same. And I'm too cautious to become a great cyclist.....

It'll affect my mate too, cause we both still want to do triathlons, in particular an IM but I'm his running partner and all we do is walk now.

Probably, as it wouldn't impact my knees. Already have a treadmill and a trainer for my bike in the house. Like I need another device that takes me nowhere! Part of the fun in the training is the journey. No fun starring at a wall. Besides, the dog needs a walk!

    Damn threadjacking.

He is an hour into his ride now, so he has barely started, and should be feeling fresh as a daisy.

He wouldn't want to be struggling this early.

I can't comprehend a 180k ride, and that's without tagging a marathon run onto the end of it.
