Where are you going for your MRI that they can't get you in before Easter? That's crazy. We can fit people in on the day usually or certainly within a day or two.

The world turns a bit more slowly down in Geelong. I suspect they reserve the MRI machine for the Geelong footballers 4 days out of 5, just in case. I'm actually in Brisbane on the 1st for 5 days - I should book myself in while I'm up there.

Not to mention how much of a bastard it must be if your boot fills up with sand!
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

So I just noticed that I'm officially 12 months into this running caper. Thought I'd go back and have a look at the progress made. Disturbing to say the least. This was my first run exactly 12 months and 4 days ago...

And a "lengthier" run about 6 weeks in...

So last Friday I set a PB for my (close enough to) 10K time...

And tonight I smashed my PB for the 7.4K circuit I do semi-regularly by 1 minute 17 seconds. And for the first time I made it around without a single walk break.

4 months in and I was really starting to doubt whether any of this was actually worth it but the times have dropped, as have the KG's. The biggest bonus of course is I can now play 18 holes of golf without feeling rooted, and can get up and down a basketball court for a full 40 minutes.

Next step I guess is to start running twice a week, and would love to be able to do a 15K circuit, but baby steps!

The key to you keeping it up will be the effect it's had on the other areas of your life, as you noted about the golf.

I have been running a couple times a week, pretty consistently for a few months now.

I am getting the dividends the same places you are, golf and basketball.

Sex life? Do rangas have one of those?

Well done, Lefty. The fitness required for a round of golf is a doddle, if you are a runner. Physically anyway.

We don't have one, we have MANY!!!

Cheers Andy. It really is, but its surprisingly easier to close out a round now too, as you at least only have to worry about being mentally sharp.

Not that I've played much since I started running etc, but I always remember how many of my rounds were destroyed in the last 4 holes as I got tired.

The time isn't super quick but got through 8K's without stopping for a walk break.

    Stamina is building.

Time's better than someone who didn't run 8k!

And to add, the time is better than about any 8k run I've done up here that wasn't a race. And not that far off my race time. Stop whinging.

Well in terms of atmosphere and fun, the GC Bulletin fun run has nothing on the UQ Twilight run.

There wasn't a lot of support out on the course last year. How did you go?

There was bugger all this morning. Couple of vans with a radio going, but that was about it.
Did ok, improved by about 4.5 mins from the twilight run so can't be unhappy with that.

The running plan for the rest of the year looks like this:

    Mother's Day classic
    Brisbane Marathon Festival 10km
    Bridge 2 Brisbane
    Wynnum Twilight Half.

    Will keep on shuffling!

There should be more atmosphere at all of those. The drink stations are always good to go through in InTraining events.

Yeah, the UQ twilight run was brilliant, even in the pouring rain.

I'll just be happy to keep making improvements from here on.

That's a good way to go. I stalled a little bit over the last couple of years because I was chasing specific times instead of just improving and running a PB.
