Well I am having a go at running this weekend with a 8km run for MS. Longest run since the 1985 City to Surf. Will see how I pull up on Monday

Well 37 years after my last fun run in 1985, the City to Surf, I did the 2022 MS Walk Run and Roll this morning.

Did it in just on 44 min for the 8 and a bit km.

Added bonus was that I led the guys and girls from the gym to set the fastest time.

    Feeling it tonight.

I just clocked 33bpm on today's ECG following a yearly health check up. Go me!
Doc not so comfortable with it, so now I have to do more tests just to prove that I'm an elite athlete.

Bloody hell! That is really low! My resting is around 48, and I have to explain that at hospital.

Tests came back. I'm an elite athlete.

Seriously though, they believe I have "athlete's heart". This means that my heart adapted to all of the long distance running that I was doing in the past, and as a result is larger and beats a bit slower. There was nothing in my tests to indicate a problem, in fact quite the opposite, such as no calcium buildup at all. The only problem is that this slow heart beat could mask a problem later on, where a symptom would be a slow HR.

On the topic of running, I've really got into running every street in Brisbane. I might never get there, but it helps with motivation to get out the door. I'm currently at 13.41%, way behind another guy that is at 25.98%, although he regularly runs ultra-marathons and knocks 20k of streets at a time, while I just chip away at suburbs.

The plan is to map all of cairns waterways by swimming in them? Sounds exhilarating.

I might just start with the public pools and take it from there.

Hyrox is 6 weeks away and this life long fat **** needs to learn how to run. Yesterday I had a running lesson (who knew this was a thing?) and was told that I was stepping too far and landing on the ball of my foot which was causing calf issues.

To counter the length of stride they told me to go to a cadence of 180. I put a metronome app on my phone and did a lap around the course to see how it went. Well, I did the first km almost a minute faster than previous runs. Seems I took more steps but they were still too long.

I have much to learn. Park Run this Saturday. Nice to join a cult.

The cult. I have done 170 parkruns across 59 different locations.

You've had 7 posts in the thread FWIW.

Well, I just logged parkrun no.2 (10 years after my first; remember that one AP??). Jas wanted to go. Been doing one or two 2/1 run/walks a week over the last few weeks. Kinda surprised with my 35min time, considering it was run/walk the whole way for me, and we did extra walking for Jas.

Nice work! Was it Main Beach on the Gold Coast that we did?
