It looks like they have the results up already (bib 1114).

    Great work AP.

I just completed the first week of the couch to 5km program. I always thought I was fit enough not to start at the first week, but I decided I am better off starting at the beginning and trying to stick with it.

Holy F Batman!!! I'm not trying to keep up with you in the B2B!!! Even if you push a pram!!! That's freaking great AP!!!!!!

And good on ya Toolish. I finished it a bit over a month ago now. It was a good idea to do the first week. It eases you into regular running without killing you and now I have no probs going out for an hour run on weekends. Still not easy getting up at 5 and running in the mornings up here though

Great to hear, Toolish. I didn't follow that program, but I guess I just started with walk/jog and look where I'm at now. It's a great and addictive way to lose waist.

No, they aren't the same, as the turnaround points were different. The split should be 11.1k/10k. Regardless I did come home stronger.

No pram now, but I can run with you if you want and help push you a bit. I might still be in recovery by then. It's supposed to take a while to fully recover from a half.[/quote]

Yep, 4:39. I know that the first 4k were at 5min pace too.
Considering my PB from 10k several months ago is at a pace of 4:32, I should be able to beat it now. McMillan's running calculator reckons 44m is the time for me now, based on my half time.

Plan out next year then. Maybe there are some of those 18 or 24 hour charity team races where you run and alternate with other team members. We could get some ozgolf teams going.

There's the King of the Mountain up here. It's only like 8km, but it's pretty much up hill the whole run.

And of course, you could work up to a 3/4, or dare I say it a full mara!!

Maybe find some cross country runs to try, rather than sticking to the road. And even that one where you race the train?

I have seen a thread on coolrunnings by someone who seemed lost after getting past a half mara goal they had set. Might be some stuff in there.

I was thinking of trail running. There seems to be several events in the Glasshouse Mountains during the year.
Alternatively, I could just go back to running 10k races.
    We'll see.

Well, haven't run now for about 5 weeks after I had a relapse of pnemonia. Have started feeling the cold at night a bit more too and giving the ventolin a good go...

I'm keen to start but scared I'll be starting from scratch again... oh well, here's to good health!

Congratulations to goughy on running 10km for the first time (63 minutes). A great achievement!

Who put that bloody hill at the 8km mark! Sadists!!! It's freezing up here now too! Colder than at 4.30am in Bris. Thanks to ap for dragging me along to the end. Maybe next year I'll be able to keep up with his pace.

Although, feeling pretty disappointed now - on the radio on the way home Capt Bligh did 58:something!!!

Great effort Goughy... think that time still beat me and I trained for my last 10k albeit pneumonia didn't help with the lead up...

Very impressive indeed; keep it up...

Well done Goughy, that's just the start of it.

The missus was there too, she was happy with a 54 min run. Not as quick as the Gold Coast, but there was a little more traffic.

On a bright note for me. I had 2 easy runs of about 5km on the weekend. No signs of problems from the stress fracture. I might have to get off my arse now and get back into some training.

Beat you by a second, goughy.

I won't give you a hard time about it though, since you were in the older men's category.

Training for anything in particular, Ryan?

    Campbell Newman (Brisbane Lord-Mayor): 45:10
    Anna Bligh (Qld Premier): 58:32

I couldn't find Emma Snowsill's time. She mustn't have had a timing chip on.

About 26,000 did the 10k, and another 10,000 did the 5k run.

    How did you go, Chops?

Not really, just trying to get back into regular excercise again. I reckon I'm about 6-8 weeks away from attempting anything really challenging. With the running season coming to an end there isn't much on offer after October.

One of my mates is trying to get me to join him in some triathlons this summer. If only I could swim?

This looks like a bit of fun though

    I saw that one.

I wouldn't want to do a triathlon either, as I don't like swimming. The Brisbane Road Runners Club have runs every second week throughout the year, if that interests you. I might consider it.

I should have tripped you with my walking stick!! Pulled up pretty good actually, although the 2hrs drive home left me a bit sore. So go for my run today and have discovered what shin splints are all about. Had to walk (well, limp) the 2nd half home. Prick!!

That's what I'll be doing next year! Have the bike now. After October I'll start the swimming. I trained all through school but I don't expect it to be easy.
