Default What about this tournament format...

    The Dunes Big Pot!

    THE ULTIMATE GOLF BET
Welcome to THE BIG POT. Teams of two are invited to compete in a unique golf tournament, the format of which is like "limited over cricket" is to "test cricket". This event is unique. It is open to amateurs and professionals over 50 years.

    PRIZE POOL $61,000

    WINNERS $ 35,000 RUNNERS UP $ 10,000

THE BIG POT is a four ball, better ball matchplay knockout - it is off the stick, there are no handicaps. Each round is over 9 holes. This format means it is a very open event - the best stroke players are not necessarily the best match players. MOST IMPORTANT - this is a team event. Each team has two members, one of whom must be an amateur.

    THE DUNES’ BIG POT
    Format:
     Maximum 64 two man teams,
     Scratch event (no handicaps)
Maximum of one professional per team,
Each round over 9 holes matchplay,
Monday – 3 rounds matchplay knockout,
Tuesday – Quarters, Semis, The Final.
All players must be over 50 years on
    7 April 2008,
Each round is a matchplay 4 ball, best ball
    shootout over 9 holes.
    Winner – The Big Pot $ 35,000
    Runners Up $ 10,000
    Semi Finalists $ 4,000
    Quarter Finalists $ 2,000

    – AMATEUR STATUS –
Amateurs who accept prize money from The Big Pot will jeopardise their amateur
status. Players may retain their amateur status by signing a waiver of any share of the
prize money, prior to playing in the tournament. This waiver will be available at The
Dunes prior to tee-off. In this circumstance, prize money is paid per the player’s
    instruction. Either:
    1. Donated to Charity (please circle one)
    Golf Australia Foundation
    Royal Children’s Hospital
    Country Fire Authority

OR 2. Paid to the player’s partner
(provided the partner is a Professional registered with the PGA).
Entry fee - $550 per person

Very interested to hear your thoughts....

Its a good scam - everyone will choose option 2, and the Pro will pay the partner back in cash less the tax.

there is lots of good enough golfers around over 50 too, but wont be easy to find them.
Well you are a chance with the Chaplain, he plays off 1 now better ask him quick before Ginny does.

I'll let you know how much of a chance I am after a hit with Rusty on Thursday.

Who is Ginny? Stuart Ginn? He'll be in Europe, won't he?

yeah, great way for some amateurs to get their hands on some cash. low markers at the Dunes'd be good playing partners.
