Rob checked, and he'd sent like 40 or 50 pm's since joining, so I banned him and deleted all the pm's he'd sent! Anyone who wants to contact the admin of any other golf forums your on about him let me know. I'll send you his email address and the ip he was logged on at!

It must be a spam robot, because even though I deleted the user, there is still a Guest with the same IP address attempting to PM members.

Banned them and deleted their pm's sent. Andy will probably delete them and ban their ip address later. I don't know how to do this.

They seem to be getting in again. Especially the pm spammers. I'd be thinking they are some sort of bot, but I didn't think bot's could get past our joining protocols? Maybe they join themselves then send the bot in later?

If it continues, I'll have to put in some extra protection measures.

We haven't ever really been heavily hit by spam, so we've been lucky. We have had plenty of bogus members join, but then not be able to post or get through the rego confirmation phase.

I don't think the article made any difference spam-wise, the spammers are generally from overseas, not local. There has been plenty of new member signups recently too.
