Default Week commencing 28 January 2008

I see a couple of other posters forgot today was a public holiday. It felt like a Sunday, but it was actually a Monday,,,, which means a new thread.

38 points at Kogarah with Grunt today in a surprisingly strong breeze.

It was a Jekyll and Hyde round, starting with a double from the middle of the fairway, then two birdies in a row, then a 3 putt, then two miracle up and downs in a row. The second nine started awful, then I finished with six straight pars on the hardest holes on the course.

    Fairways = 6 of 12
    Greens in reg = 8 of 18
Putts = 29, two 3putts, two birdies, lots of good 8 to 12 footers
    Up & Down = 5 of 7
    Sand Saves = 1 of 3

A weird day out at the Sea Temple course today. I either smoked the drive and messed up the approach, or missed the drive and stiffed the approach. Either way, I couldn't putt on the newly laid greens.

Played the Shark Lake Challenge at Carbrook today and if you have not played the shark lake challenge you should give it a go. Break handicap and you get a shirt. First time in four attempts i did it. Happy with the round today i shot a 76 nett 70 to be one under my handicap.
    11/14 Fairways
    9/18 greens in reg
5/9 up and downs and 30 putts.
Not bad in a rain soaked day.

Played at nudgee today with the boys... thanks for the round gents.

    Had 38 points (5 x 1 points)

    12/14 Fairways
    4/18 GIR
    5/14 U/D
    Putts 31 (3x3 putts in there , 8 x 1 putts, 7 x 2 putts)

Played reasonably solidly (16/22). I just need to start off better... i started with three 1 pointers

    Ended up with:
    1 x Birdie
    7 x Pars
    5 x Bogies
    5 x Double Bogies

I just need to keep the double bogies down and bit and i might get this handicap down a bit!

I'd say well played Jarro, but you'd get all defensive and call me a victim.

Nett 64 (1 under) today with a torrential downpour.

Was 2 up when the rain hit, so decided to 3 putt that green and get back to square. Did the jacket/umbrella/wet bag/wet hands/wet glove/wet everything shuffle for the remaining 11 holes. 3 partners walked off after the first downpour. Joined the group behind until the next downpour when we lost 3 more. 2 of us finished.

I thought Par would be in the running, but 4th card in A-Reserve and I was coming 4th. Ffs. The first groups would have got around the course before the rain hit, and they cashed in on it.

2 rounds in 2 weeks and no movement.... of handicap that is.

EDIT - The CCR came in a +1 today, so I've lost .5 and down to 12 (12.1) again!

Monthly Medal at Eastlake today... had two goals for the day, no 3 putts (to obtain a best ever of 3 straight rounds without one) and minimal hooks with the driver.

Achieved both goals and a decent score for a 76, net 66 (-3) and one shot off Medal playoff... damn... but qualified for the presidents trophy matchplay.

    7/12 fairways
    7/18 GIR
    4/9 U&D
29 putts (first time under 30 putts since I was a teenager) - no 3 putts!!

    3 birdies
    6 pars
    8 bogies
    1 double

Down to a 9.1 and the single figure club (for the first time since teenage years) with 0.6 sliced off the h'cap... hooray!
    H'cap start 06 - 15 - Goal 06 - 10 - End 06 - 15
    H'cap start 07 - 15 - Goal 07 - 12 - End 07 - 10

Nice work, mz. But I'm surprised you reached those negative goals. It's like saying "Don't hit it in the water, don't hit it in the water".

Well AP (good spotting, post nazi ), I wrote them down negative in my post, but I didn't actually think of them throughout my round,

Focus was on good rolling of the ball on the green over my 'spot' and getting my hands into a positive position at impact (to stop the flip that was causing my hook).

PS... I tried the "don't hit it left in the water" tactic last week... result - 4 top spin hooks into the drink

Monthly Medal today in atrocious monsoonal weather. It was pissing down most of the day. Preferred lies was not enough. Most shots in the fairway required relief from casual water.

I had 82 (74) which doesn't sound too bad, but I felt as though I played much worse. Of course, back to back birds on 8 & 9 made things a little more civil.
