Where were you when........
This is in expectation that today sometime between 2pm and 4pm Warney will break Murali's World Record.
We've all got a tale regarding a significant moment in history. Such as;
Princess Diana dies in a car crash
I was playing lawn bowls at the Gladesville Bowling and Sports club - Cricket team vs Fishing Club when someone announced it.
9/11
I was trapped in a hotel in Canberra away from my (at the time) fiancee who was at home in Sydney. I called to see if she was watching, to find out of course she was cranky that i'd woken her up and she didn't really find out until the next morning.
Surely we've got some moon-landing vintage types around here?

Oooh, another one;
Ayrton Senna fatal crash at Imola
Don't know how many F1 fans out there, but i had the TV on but had fallen asleep. I woke up and just knew something was wrong. I watched the coverage and noticed that his Williams was into the wall, and the support crew was there - but it was the nature of the accident, or the tone in Murray Walker's voice that immediately said - 'This isn't good'.
Very poignant moment actually, don't have to be a motor sport fan to appreciate how much of a loss he was to the sport.

Princess Di - woke up Sunday morning to hear a news report on the radio and I thought it was a hoax.
9/11 - up early at 5am to get on a plane for work - couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was a very sombre mood at the airport and when we arrived at the client, it was just deathly silent - it was a primary school and the teachers were trying to figure out the best way to explain what had happened to the kids.

Princess Di - always have a thought she will get assasinated or something just didn't thought it comes so quick (and involves some others) don't have special feeling when I read the news.
9/11 - I was mucking around with the TV at home have nothing to do. Never a TV fans but was too bored. I thought it was a movie, after 20 seconds I realise every channel doing the same movie and I knew something is wrong. Ring my gf and friends (which woke them up) and everyone didn't sleep till next morning.

9-11
My wife and I were at work at a large IBM site in Charlotte NC. Someone had a radio on and heard what was happening. We scrambled to a tea room that had a TV and watched live as the scond plane hit. Spent most of that day glued to a TV. Not much was said. There was an eery silence. That soon changed to anger. It was such a huge shock to all Americans when terrorism came to them.
I had to fly to Stuttgart for work a few days later and was not too keen to go. My mongrel of a boss, carried on like nothing had happened. Very quiet at the airport, let me tell you. In Germany, every passenger was searched and questioned under watch by soldiers with rifles. Pretty freaky stuff.

Um, anyone got anything a little uplifting?
Steve Waugh's Last-ball 100 at Sydney - January 2003
I was fixing the cousin in-laws computer at a neighbouring farm near Casino. House full of women and not one of them cricket fans. No one moved as S.R. Waugh raced to within a shot of a century, and everyone cheered when he cracked Dawson through the covers for his ton.

Di Car Crash
I have no idea what I was doing.
11/9
Would have been asleep.
Taped Rove that night though, and had plenty of interesting news footage on tape because of what followed. Most of the footage is when they have no idea what is going on or why.
Warney's World Record
Still waiting.

Don't be rude. You are implying that I only care about the quantity of my posts and not the quality.
I just happen to be in here all day, that's all. (and all night if I was in Canberra)

Diana's Death: was watching Collingwood play footy and they put this trashy news story on instead - Who Cares!. They couldnt just said "News Flash - she's dead" and go back to the footy, but No, they had to dribble on for ages - on every channel.
And to cap it off, I missed Get Smart cos that was supposed to be on after the footy.
09/11 Was asleep, didnt hear about it until i got to work at 7am.
Americas Cup win was top dressing the 13th green at Horton Park, and listening on the radio.

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

Man walked on the MoonI wasn't even a twinkle in my old man's eyes
Di's fender bender wouldn't have a clue where I was... probably sleeping.
9/11 I remember this one clearly. That might I was at a mate's place cleaning a virus off his PC for him when it all started. Went to work the next day and spent most of it in front of the TV in disbelief.
Bali bombing Don't remember where I was when it actually happened, but I do remember being at home when a mate called saying 'Nathan's in Bali, and he's missing..."
RIP.
