have you ever known someone quite well , and didnt know they were famous?
I know this Seth Effrikan couple who are pretty good freinds with Graham Hick and they have absolutely no idea who he is, apart from being a local gold coast bloke (from Zimbabwe) called Graham.
Ok, so he aint Don Bradman, but I thought that was pretty funny, even non-cricket fans from SA probably have heard of him

I met Ian Healy and Mark Taylor walking out of a club in Canberra once. They just said hello boys and kept walking.

Met Adrian Lam, Chris Close and a few other SOO players (to be honest it was so long ago I can't remember who else) at City Rowers in Brisbane back in the day too. Shook hands and left them... The players were beating pissed young girls off with a stick.

Not really famous but I played junior golf at the same club as Matt Millar and played with him a fair few times. Good bloke, never would've thought he'd have the talent and commitment to turn pro but there you go.

Jack Newton. He was on the same island as we were on our honeymoon. Never saw him sober.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
