I think I remember a story about a pensioner in Redcliffe killing a burglar a number of years ago. Don't know what happened with that one. Think he may have actually shot the kid.

I remember a kid getting shot a couple of decades ago breaking in. From memory - the kid had a stick and the home owner thought it a gun and shot him. May have been a 243. When the cops or paramedics arrived the home owner was trying to revivie him i think. The gun owner had his ammo and gun locked away separate as per and accessed both after hearing sounds. Given the look of the house, I would think it's unlikely to be high priority for a burglar unless given his history he knew there would be drugs/cash on premises.
