Default Sydney - Sunday 12 December

Pete and I were chatting today about the next Sydney get together and I thought I'd put a date up now.

The 2 course suggestions by Pete were Ashlar and Cumberland. We don't want anything that will kill us - Shellharbour was spectacular, but I think an easier course would suit us better

    My other suggestion is Bexley.

Please feel free to suggest a course - nothing as difficult as Shellharbour or Camden Lakeside - reasonable cost $40pp comp + green fee - and where booking in a large number of players won't be a hassle.

I really don't care if we play a muni course!

I've played Cumberland once and really enjoyed it. Ashlar i've heard good things about, other places we could toss up are Carnarvon (Trung?) and Fox Hills?

I can see about booking 8-12 spots as a 'group' at Fox (Sundays are open days, i can invite 3 ppl).

    Either way, count me in.

Thanks Fishy. I know that Carnarvon is 1 guest per member.

Please pick Cumberland! I will be able to go see my relatives after we play!

I am 100% in for this one either way. I will be on holidays, so it's good timing!

    Kind regards,

    Ben (Ducky).

Dec 12 is OK with me. I'm keen for a game wherever.

I can find out whether we can play at Bayview, if people are keen. Bayview has undergone a lot of changes in the last two years. Interesting course where no two holes look the same. All par fives potentially reached in 2 by long hitters, but they are very tight. Par 71. Not too hard, but it can bite.

If I get permission from the general manager, the green fee may be very cheap.

Ducky, you want the address of my mother in law ???

Dan, only prob with Fox Hills on a Sunday is the earliest hit off 11am, after all the social golf.... I know Ashlar hits off from the crack, but not sure about Cumberland. Ducky, if we did Ashlar, it is about a 12 minute drive from Cumberland, your wish could still be granted.

Hah, it doesn't have to be Cumberland, but it would have worked out well as my relatives live just down the road. Wherever you pick will be fine with me, it will be good to have a game on one of the Sydney courses.

    Kind regards,

    Ben (Ducky).

I checked with the general manager at Bayview, and we can get up to 4 tee times at Bayview on Sunday 12/12. As long as you are a member somewhere, the only cost will be the comp fee ... ie. $8. Bayview, with the new water reservoirs, is in pretty good nick at the moment, so it's a good deal. The only thing is that it's quite far up north (around Mona Vale).

If people are keen, I can go ahead with the booking. I personally don't mind where we play. Just throwing this in as an option. (We've gone south to Shell Harbour, west to Liverpool, so about time for a northern course? )

Great. I've pencilled in 3 tee times starting at 8:30am. I know this is early, but it means we will avoid the afternoon heat. If it is too early, let me know and I'll change it.

    So, here's the list:

    1. Amanda
    2. Brad?
    3. Fishy
    4. Jono
    5.
    6.
    7.
    8.
    9.
    10.
    11.
    12.

For those who are coming from South/West, the best way is to take the Mona Vale road towards Pittwater road.

Fantastic Jono - thanks for doing the booking. Brad and I are definitely in! Terence also said he'd be interested - and a while back he suggested that if we wanted to chuck in $10 each, he'd put a driver head up for a prize.

We all know your rich vein of form at the moment Amanda, but luring $$$ of us is naughty

I'll be in that, sounds cheaper than (losing) regular bets

Before I put myself down as a definite, I would be coming from the Mosman area if I was to play. How far away is Bayview from Mosman?

    Kind regards,

    Ben (Ducky).

    No doubting you Mosmanians

You're about 25-30 mins away. Go through The Spit, straight ahead at the Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation at Balgowlah and up past Warringah Mall. Depends on traffic really, but you're the closest so far

    Ducky,

On a Sunday morning, you should be able to make it in 20 minutes. Watch out for the speed camera as you cross the Spit ...

    Amanda,

Since the game is only going to cost $8 each, I think $10 per person for a prize is a good idea. I'll talk to Terence and see what he can do.

Hey Tony. Welcome to the forum. Quick intro, perhaps? Where do you play and what handicap do you play off? I joined Bayview this year after about 3 years' break from golf. Used to be off 7 at one stage, currently off 10.

You forgot the bit, "and I had a win yesterday with 42 points..... allowed my adoring fans to put my name in the paper"

    Well done mate
