Default AndyP v BrisVegas - it feels like a Grand Final

AndyP v BrisVegas - played Sunday Feb 10 at Gailes GC. (Wynnum Cup flooded)

    10 hcap v 8 hcap.

    POTY #2 v #1.

    (01) BrisVegas $303,500 16 Q 2
    (02) AndyP $262,333 36 Q 1

It's the most prolific ozgolfer, admin for the site and all around top bloke AndeePee versus the sneaky last gasp winner of everything in 2008.

AndyP's running hot after his usual Christmas sunny coast golf festival and is now playing off his lowest handicap ever. He even bought some new clubs this year.

Vegas is in a 12 month slump (ozgolf champs excepted ) of poor form and has drifted to his highest handicap in 15 years.

Geez, talk about a tough draw in the first round! Whatever happened to the matchplay winner getting a bye in the first round???

Could this be the first time ever that the reigning champ doesn't get past the first round?

And more importantly, if Vegas bows out early, who else can stop the juggernaught?

Interested to hear what your definition of "close out" is. Oh, thanks again for buying me dinner Friday night. Oh and lunch on Saturday too.

rescheduled to sunday 10th Feb at Gailes GC, 12:24pm. A renowned wet weather course, so no last minute reprieves this time...

Can AndyP hold his red-hot form for another week???

    What red-hot form?
Will I be able to block out the fact that nearly every single club in my bag doesn't suit me?

You played a match against Damo here a couple of years ago and won on the playoff hole from memory.
I played kpac there last year and won the last to tie.
    A history of close results.

BV, your mother wears army boots.

(I'm saving the 'chewy on your shoe' line for the round)

That's because she was in the army for nearly 20 years. She'll kick your arse too if you give her any cheek.

They fall on 8 and 12 again. I already had a course plan for Gailes, so minimal work is required.

Easy to do, jarro. You just lay up short of the green and make par by getting up and down.

Unlike myself, you can probably hit an iron relatively straight. My plan is for me only.

I've missed that hole to the right .. to the left .... over the back ... but never been short of the green.

It might open up a whole new world of possibilities for me

Why lay up just knock it stiff to three feet and sink the putt. But of course some one would need to wake me up before i did that.

Thinking about those holes, I realised that I don't like either of those two holes because the greens are so tight. I need those shots there to cover my two shots out of the bunkers.

It was pretty warm out there today, I wonder if it will be more of the same.

Great to see the forum getting behind this match. I just received a supportive SMS before, but I think they got the wrong number because it said "Go Vegas!".

Congratulations to BrisVegas on his win today. The end result was 2/1.

I'll provide a hole by hole later (unless you don't want me to), but Dion played solidly and made some great saves to halve holes when I looked to be in a good position.
