Default AndyP v BrisVegas - it feels like a Grand Final

AndyP v BrisVegas - played Sunday Feb 10 at Gailes GC. (Wynnum Cup flooded)

    10 hcap v 8 hcap.

    POTY #2 v #1.

    (01) BrisVegas $303,500 16 Q 2
    (02) AndyP $262,333 36 Q 1

It's the most prolific ozgolfer, admin for the site and all around top bloke AndeePee versus the sneaky last gasp winner of everything in 2008.

AndyP's running hot after his usual Christmas sunny coast golf festival and is now playing off his lowest handicap ever. He even bought some new clubs this year.

Vegas is in a 12 month slump (ozgolf champs excepted ) of poor form and has drifted to his highest handicap in 15 years.

Geez, talk about a tough draw in the first round! Whatever happened to the matchplay winner getting a bye in the first round???

Could this be the first time ever that the reigning champ doesn't get past the first round?

And more importantly, if Vegas bows out early, who else can stop the juggernaught?

Looks like BV is getting his bad rounds out of the way before turning it on next Sunday, while I just wasted a 38 pointer. At least I didn't lose a shot out of it.

I got plenty more bad rounds where that came from. If last year is anything to go by, I'll save my good form for the champs....

Shots to be given on Hole 8, a 302m par 4, and Hole 12, a 442m par 5. With BV's length I'm sure he'll be going for eagle or a tap-in birdie on both.

I can't get 442m in two shots slightly uphill.

Bet you can. first shot is downhill initially, over the gutter.

Pre-Grand Final nerves. Now it feels like a Grand Final.

I must be careful not to stray too much from my normal pre-game routine, that is, try not to stay too sober. Best undies prepped. Course plan done. Feral shoes ready for action. Bring it on!

Really looking forward to the match.

Anti-climax! We'll have to reschedule for when BV had regained some brownie points. Maybe March......2009.

So if neither of them played, does that mean I'm straight through to the 3rd round?

Nope, you play me, because BV declined my offer to play at Gailes on the way home, when we drove through a patch without rain.

No idea where we'll play, and I'd prefer it not to be McLeod, because I know Vegas would prefer it not to be McLeod. I'll try to fit in with his schedule.
