Default Ozgolf Player of the Year 2008-RUSTY

Ozgolf Player of the Year 2008 (the Money List)

Player of the Year 2007 - BrisVegas
    Player of the Year 2006 - Peter_RS
Player of the Year 2005 - BrisVegas
Player of the Year 2004 - Iain

The winner will be declared the OZgolf Player of the Year and the holder of the Golden Club.

    How it works

    1. Prize money is based on the size of the round and a standard 18 hole round. You win $1000 for handing in a score, plus $1000 for every player you beat. Only Bona Fide Ozgolf.net registered members are eligible and counted for the prize pool. The event winner gets a 50% bonus. Nett scores only. $1000 for an NCR, if there is a valid reason, otherwise $0. AGU count used for ties of 1st.
    eg. 4 in the field.
    1st $6000 (4000+2000)
    2nd $3000
    3rd $2000
    4th $1000

1a. Prize money for a mulitround event is awarded as method 1. for the total result and each round result gets 1/(number rounds) of the money set out in method 1.
eg for a 36 hole event, round 1 & round 2 get 1/2 the normal money and the total pass as normal.

    2. An Ozgolf day is defined as an event that is posted to the 1st Tee forum with an open invitation for everybody to join in, and where typically one person handles all the bookings

    3. Scores are taken from 1st tee forum at Ozgolf.net only. One person at each golf day needs to record the nett scores and the exact Ozgolf usernames. List scores in order. Scores must be clearly posted in first post.

    4. No limit to number of games or course played. Minimum field for an Ozgolf day is 2 Ozgolf.net website members.

    5. To be eligible for the Player of the Year award the Ozgolfer must have purchased an Ozgolf Shirt or made a donation to the Ozgolf website/community.

    6. The year concludes with the Annual Ozgolf Championships or the 31st December whichever occurs first.

    7. In the event of a Tie, a countback will apply, by counting the number of 1st places, If still a tie, 2nd places, and so on. If tie cannot be seperated a joint award will be made.

    FAQ
    Whats a Bona Fide Ozgolfer?
Someone that is (or will be) a regular contributor or someone that we all know and love.

Why do we have to use Ozgolf Nicknames, everyone knows who Jim, Pete , Dave and Mark is?
There is at least two Jim's two Petes, two Dave's and four Mark's, how hard do you wanna make it.

Any questions, arguements, suggestions? Fire away.

If you think a round is missing please have a look, if all the result are not in a 1st thread don't bitch

And what a start, 10 games already pete!

I wonder how many games you'd have to play to come last in every one and still win poty? Could be something to aim at.

I vote we change the money allocations to be similiar with the FedEx points....

    So like this....

    1: 4,500
    2: 2,700
    3: 1,700
    4: 1,200
    5: 1,000
    10: 675
    30: 170
    70: 50

And of course you get more for the majors......

but then would a 1st in a 4 person event be the same as a 1st in a 12 person event?

if so, don't like that change at all.

I think it's too late to change anyway.

Has anyone that's won it in the past not deserved to win it (besides your fiance)?
What are we trying to achieve by changing it?

Its a great idea, the current system is flawed for large fields. in a 40 person event 10th gets almost as much as 2nd/

I spent hours trying to work out a spread like the Pro's use but failed. its too hard for a manual process.

If you can find someone to write a formula that will allocate the money accordingly to the size of the field and then program a system to calculate the allocation then go for it.

One stat that would be interesting is the "Average Field Size". At present the "Average Pos" means nothing. Having an Average Pos of 2 could mean an average of runnerup, or an average of last. Having an average of 2/2 is much different than 2/20. (Average Pos/Average Field Size"

    Just a thought.

Pete, are you talking about the "Average Field Size" for the everyone? I was actually talking about an average field size for each person, just like you've got "Average Pos".

    Peters

Now firstly thanks for doing this BUT am I missing something. You and the missus seem to have played a great deal of rounds so early in the year. I would ask two questions:

    1. Am I to assume many of your rounds were just the two of you -is that really in the spirit of this competition. Surely this rule needs to be looked at.

    2. Were all 11 of your rounds complying? "2. An Ozgolf day is defined as an event that is posted to the 1st Tee forum with an open invitation for everybody to join in"

remember POTY starts from first day after annual champs or 31st Dec, whichever is earlier.

Ah that would be the missing link in my knowledge then. I was assuming 31 Dec.

    Miro to answer your questions.....

    1. No we don't count games that are played between ourselves....
    2. Yes all of our games complied to the "rules". We played a lot of golf in our break between the champs and going back to work after christmas.

If we wanted to so badly win POTY we would list all our games in the 1st tee section.... but what would be the point??
