Default My Goals for 2008 Champs

After a considerably poor effort at this years champs, I would like to set some goals to see if I can acheive something at the 2008 champs.
    1. Get this svelte 103 kg frame down to mid 80s. This is also a health and lifestyle issue, but using the champs as a goal should help me focus on it
    2. Learn to play solidly for 18 holes instead of good for 6, ok for 6 and a complete disaster for 6.
    3. Continue to improve handicap wise. I still have a few comps left to get it down below 20 this year as per my goal. If I can improve another 7 shots by next years champs I will be very happy.
    4. Practice chipping and pitching. Another round with someone who gets in up and down from the 'trashcans' has convinced me that getting that 3rd shot close is a key to shooting low scores.
    5. Learn to play when I am drunk instead of getting distracted all the time. This one could be difficult as I really only drink like that at the champs each year! Or I could cheat and bring the Mrs and have to go to bed early ..... naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Anyone else have some goals for next years event? (I think just making it for our friends from Victoria, NSW and Northern QLD is an awesome effort anyway)

PeteyD, I think your game has improved out of sight since the last time I played with you. That Hcp of yours will tumble bigtime in the next 6 months

As for goals for the next years Champs, I would just like to play how I know I can. This year I put together a couple of ok rounds but still nowhere near what I should be shooting
My Hcp needs to start dropping as well so it is time to get back into some lessons and start working hard on my weak points no more hilary swanks

Just getting there is my goal. After that, as long as I don't do a Choppa, I'll be happy.

Pete, I havent seen you hit a ball since you started improving, but to be brutally honest if you can play to 22 now, then you have improved by much more than the strokes that the golf link says. Great stuff, keep it up.

Good idea, and you could have a competition for people to guess which **** is which.

    Pete,

I played with you at Gailes about a year ago, when you were a 27 marker, then again recently at Redland Bay. You were 100 times the golfer the second time around. Just improve the tee game and you'll be laughing.

No goals for next years Champs except to get there (please don't clash with something). I feel that I'm getting more than enough out of my game. Especially coming off my best Champs result.

My "goal" for this year was to find the right balance between boozing up on the Sat night and being capable of swinging a golf club the next day for the first time. I did that, although my score was still worse.

I had no expectations this year. Can't see why I should change strategy next year. Last year I was really expecting to play well and tanked badly at the champs.

I also want to come out of next year's Champs with a working phone.

The women are right. Men can't multi-task. I couldn't take a piss and text at the same time.

My goal for next years Champs is to put in a little more preperation ... get out and actually work on my game ..... something i haven't done in a while.

Not that i actually expect to ever do any good at OzGolf days due to the socialising ... but it'd be nice to at least play to the handicap for once

A more realistic goal might be to actually get around to having a yarn to everyone on the Saturday night though, especially all the interstate visitors who make the effort to come up here year after year.

Goal next year? Just to be able to turn up really.

Maybe it would be nice to be able to tune my better form at the period of the next Champ happening.

I'd just like to play to my handicap at KV, I'd be stoked if I could do that. But I would like to win something for play throughout the year such as most improved, I reckon with a bit more consistency I've got a good chance.

What are peoples thoughts on having a forum regarding fitness.
It could revolve around golf fitness, there are a few places out there that might even be able to contribute (and sponsor maybe). I remember seeing a studio that concentrated on golf fitness. Of course there are also alot of stuff that can be done that is just functional fitness, not directly concerning golf but certainly a lot better than no exercise at all!

I had a thread going from last year but it's lost it's way a bit. After seeing the Ozgolf champs photos - I'm thinking it's time to loose some weight - again.
