Both yourself and dc seem to be in the wrong thread with your replies. The two word thread is the one you are after.

Once again my tips go down in flames
I think the last time I backed the Cup winner was back in the late 80's Anyways you got to have a go either way

    you miss that bit.

I gave you 10 out of 24 mate, which included the top 4.
if you boxed them all in a trifecta you would have multipied your bet by 4 - i narrowed it down to 10 horses, i didn't outline a winner, just trying to be friendly as it's a lot easier to pick a winner from 10 than it is from 24. As it turned out only nine of my ten ran, thus you'd have a 33% chance of a placed runner.

ps: on derby day i gave 4 tips of which 3 got up.
spose you're still sour i got one wrong....

i'll just let you choose your own hey.

I don't bet, and I wasn't really having a go, just making an observation. Picking about 40% of the field to be a chance of winning doesn't seem to be narrowing it down.

Were the top 3 in the best 10 for odds anyway?

i didn't say 10 that have a "chance" i said : "i think there are 10 contenders" - ie disregard the rest - so explain to me how eliminating 60% of the field is not "narrowing it down" ?? you do different math to the rest of us?

Odds mean stuff all mate, you can get good "value" in any race at never have a win! the winner was middle of the road in betting.

Well the odds aren't bad if they mean stuff all.
Fixed Price odds that I found:
    Efficient - 8th favourite
    Purple Moon - 2nd favourite
    Mahler - 4th favourite

You generally don't see AFL or NRL Premiership tips for 6 out of 16 teams, 13 teams out of 32 for a Soccer World Cup or golf tourney tips picking 51 of a 128 field (40&#37.

This proves you dont bet then doesn't it... That is exactly how you do it. Cancel out as many teams as possible, so that you only have to pick between a select group of teams. In a forum about golf, giving people a genuine educated form guide and elimiating 60% of the field I would have thought benifitial. And as for your examples, non of them have the same odds that are associated with racing...

If you chose from my list as opposed to yours, you would have had 100% higher chance of winning.

but as per another forum, i'll stop posting any of my tips, some wankers expect a little much...

That's the difference between a tip and a bet then, isn't it?

Christ, this forum is getting precious. It seemed like a pretty fair discussion to me, which you seemed to argue well.
But then came the last statement with the insult and the "dummy spit", because one poster questions your opinion (or do I need to put IMO before or after every one of my posts).

    Remember people, discussion forum.

jarro, you really need to moderate my posts, as I obviously upset too many people here. If you can find something that I need to remove from them, let me know, so I can change them.

Rob picked up $50 bucks at work in their sweep.

I didn't even watch it! Was at a gig at Weis restaurant (woomba's premier restaurant) and we had our lunch break during the race. So me and the bass player were eating in peace and quiet. I had a large cheesy roll, beer battered fish, roast beef , carrot and potato, potato salad, eggs and chicken mignon, followed by chocolate mud cake, rocky road, coconut ice and caramel tart! The cheesy roll was a stand out. It was bigger than a hamburger roll and when I broke it open it had the colour of pumpkin scones. But it turned out to be the way they blended the cheese into the mixture! Pure heaven.

Oh, and apparently there was a race on or something!

Friends of mine, picked a box trifecta with 4 horses. Those 4 were the top 4. Pretty arsey if you ask me, but now they are $800 or so richer.

I gambled away $200.00 on race 7 (probably not much in comparison to what some of you guys are betting). Figuring I could make some of it back in race 8, my horse ran last. Needless to say I stopped at that point.
