    Default NSW 2008 Matchplay

Ok guys & girls the 2007 Final is being played this weekend so now is a good a chance as any to see how many of us are keen for next years event. The OzGolf Year is Champs to Champs isn't it?

What should we set as the rules for the event?

Should we have time limits for rounds?

Should we limit entries to 16 or have a bigger field with no doubt a lot of 1st round byes?

    DRAW DONE!!

    Any takers?
The excuse that it was 2007 when expressions of interest were asked for is now gone. 10 more entrants would be nice. Maybe even organise a Sunday round where all 1st round matches are played would be good.

    Hi,

I am a newbie to the site, but would be keen to have a hit if no-one has any objections.

16 would be a great number but 8 is workable. When should we close this and get it going. If we get stuck at 7, I guess it is ok too. Defending Champ gets a bye in the 1st round.

MAy be interested. In interests of full disclosure, have given up a club membership due to lack of time with young family and other pursuits, so would need a handicap appraisal.

Somewhere around 27 would be appropriate based on current levels of play (2 games since May)

Just to make sure I don't stuff anyone around at all, there are a couple of dates coming up that I know I won't be available so thought I should let you know, obviously if the dates clash then I miss out. Dates are -

W/E of 12 & 13th Jan (Son's first week at daycare and if I ask to play golf, I will not be able to have another child).

Sat 26th (Son's 1st birthday and again not in my best interests to even ask to play this day)

Sat 2nd Feb (Niece's b'day, and personally I don't care if I go, but the wife sees different...)

    Hi Grant.

Not too interest as I find it too much of a chore to organise games.

You don't have to play the games all in one big group. You can just arrange your game against your opponent and play by yourselves or with just a few of ya's. There is usually just a cut off date for finishing each rounds, and you can play any time within that timeframe. Pretty accommodating really

Grant, may I suggest you stick a date down when you think the 1st round should be completed by. Given we have until November for the final ? I think Easter would be a good date to have the first round played. That gives everyone 10 ? weeks and might get a few folks interested.

Close it for entries 14th January (say), do the draw and sit back and relax.

    That would be my suggestion.

If the Qld guys can get their comp started, then so should we.

At this point there will be 4 first round matches and 4 byes. I reckon if Zipptopp or Coffs or TS or Fishman Dan etc change their minds, they can be randomly drawn to fill a bye before a specific date, say 1 February.

    Any thoughts?

Default NSW 2008 Matchplay - Draw and round dates

    Looks like we will have a 12 person field out of 16. So as Jim has said there will be 4 1st round byes. I will do the Draw as follows;

    Round 1 - Completion before 31 March 2008
    Game 1: Jimandr v Bye(16)
    Game 2: 2 v Bye(15)
    Game 3: 3 v 14
    Game 4: 4 v 13
    Game 5: 5 v 12
    Game 6: 6 v 11
    Game 7: 7 v 10
    Game 8: 8 v 9

    Round 2 - Quarter Finals - Completion before 30th May 2008
    Game 9: G1 v G5
    Game 10: G2 v G6
    Game 11: G3 v G7
    Game 12: G4 v G8

    Round 3 - Semis - Completion before 30 August 2008
    Game 13: G9 v G10
    Game 14: G11 v G12

Round 4 - Final - Completion before 2008 OzGolf Champs (November)
    Game 15: G13 v G14

We shall have a random draw, as it is easier than working out rankings. Only non random spot will be the defending champ. Jim will automatically gain the #1 spot. Other free spots will stay open for late starters for a little while longer and will go in the draw in order to minimise the amount of free slots into the 2nd round. Do the completion dates seem ok for each round to be completed?

Will do the draw Sunday night.
