Yes! I don't think it was ever even considered to be a possible scenario.

Why avoid Nissan?
My Navara has not missed a beat in 65k.
So much so we're looking at a Qashqai for the Mrs when the new model comes out mid year.

Because he recommended Japanese cars, and Nissan is pretty much Japanese in name only these days.

Aussie Quashqai is made in Japan, but there is shared Renault componentry.

Cars are like houses at the moment. It is a super sellers market, if you don't need to get another one.
My mate's daughter asked about new Toyota's last week (not sure what, but probably run-of-the-mill Corolla). Was told there was an 8 month wait, couldn't test drive one because they didn't have any, and no guarantee that today's price would be the price upon delivery.
If you can find a new car you like, snap it up. Apparently, it's going to be like this for at least a year, maybe longer.

Echoing this. I bought my 08 Suburu from a one man dealership in Brunswick heads, he said he only ever sells cars manufactured in Japan. He doesnt want to harm his good reputation he built over 30 years selling cars there. Of course there are good and bad cars built anywhere, he used to sell anything but he says there was just a much higher probability of getting lemons, and doesnt want the hassle. So much easier to deal with Jap cars.

We have a Mitsi Pajero Sport that is one year old next month and we are told that we will break even at worst if we sell it privately, have a new Mazda 3 on order.

Dealer told me 8 months for new today, I added 2 moths for BS and another 2 for good measure, new isn't the answer for me.
Paid $32k for a 2020 standard model Tuscon with just over 20,000 on the clock. Private sale.
Looking for cars for me is about as much fun as going to the dentist.

Not at all, if push comes to absolute shove then warranties in the grand scheme of things mean sweet **** all. They make it easier if you have one, obviously, but Australian Consumer Law says you can reasonably expect years and / or many kilometres out of major parts for a car. If it has a failure at any point in the next 3 or so years / 50,000kms he'd be well within his rights to demand free replacements etc, for the most part.

You would have to explain to me what risks are involved.
The car still has 3 years on its warranty and its transferable, plenty of information on line regarding the seller, I know what he does for a job, I know what he paid for his house, I have his mobile, bank details, and could potentially find more.
Am I missing something.

A 32k car today is a 18k Falcodore/Camry Magna in 2000.
Probably has more warranty left over too
