As long as you get some new seat-covers, things will work out just fine.
How about these?
I like the new camry's - think they are a damn fine looking car, much better than the new commodore and falcons! My mate has the aurion and he loves it. And he was a staunch holden man and is on like his 4th commodore atm (wifes car) and he swears he'll never buy one again. The only thing he was unsure of was the front wheel drive of the aurion. But he says it shites on the new commodore hands down. More power too.
Well after 6 weeks with my new car (1996 EF Fairmont) it gave me the shits so i went out and bought an AU XR8 Manual... should be better than the Fairmont which broke down every 2nd week

Luva, you won't be able to get away with the "my car can't spin it's tyres" excuse to the cops with this one!

Nah the AU XR-8s aren't that great for power. Nice cars though.

Get a supercharged aurion!
Testing out a new Lancer for work.
+
aggressive looks compared to the old model. almost reminds me of an Alfa.
gets up to the speed limit easily - pretty quick
Has a little graphic which tells you which door is ajar
cruise control on steering wheel
radio controls on steering wheel
seat pockets
drink holders in the back seat centre armrest
little storage areas in the rear doors
The air conditioner will just about put icicles on you.
CD stacker
Deep set binnacles for speedo and tacho
A sign saying "welcome" is displayed when you turn it on, and "goodbye" when you turn it off. (I just love a polite car!)

Noisy on the highway, but that might be the tyres on particular surfaces
small glove box
medium size boot
a bit slab sided - no protective panels along the side.
space saver tyre
the nose cone is integrated into the bumper, and projects out as far as the bumper so if you hit the bumper you're likely to damage the nose.
All in all though a pretty good car. I wouldn't say no if someone gave it to me.
Would I swap the Sonata for it?
No. I like the Sonata's bigger boot. (I like big butts and I cannot lie ...)
Some of the bits feel a little bit cheap - lid of the centre console for CDs especially, and the sunvisors. I hate space saver tyres too.

Even falcons are gonna have space savers now, they are the way they are all going.

Space savers aren't that bad, when you consider that BMW don't offer a spare anymore (only run flat tyres).
One of the managers at work has a BMW company car. He had a flat a couple of months ago on a Sunday down the coast. He was too far from home to drive it home (max 80Km). There were no tyre places open on the Sunday. He had to abandon the car outside the nearest Bob Jane and get his wife to drive down and pick him up.
They went back down on Monday morning to organise a replacement (run flats can't be repaired) but they did not have one available and did not even have a distributor lined up so they had no idea of how to get one. He visited 3 more tyre shops before finding one that could get a spare (4 day lead time and $570!!!).
It would normally cost about $15 to repair a simple puncture in a normal tyre. He was out of pocket by almost $600 plus the week without a car and the running about to get it fixed.
He wasn't very happy and he won't be a return customer to BMW if they persist with not providing a spare.
Ryan
Just curious... is it even legal to sell a car without a spare tyre nowadays?
Not that great for power, but there is soo much more torque than the XR6 i had, and the fairmont, and i managed to find a manual XR8, so it is actually relatively quick, but its a series 1 so 185kw, even the BF Falcon 6 has more power, although with the exhaust on mine its probably putting out a bit more

Here is an old thread worth bringing back from the dead, only partly due to my post above.
Seven and a half years later, the Most Uncool Car Ever Made, my navy blue Tiida, is still going strong and it hasn't missed a beat in all that time. It has been the best car I have ever owned. But I have a strong feeling that the price of cars in my target range is about to go up, so it could be time to say goodbye.
So, rather than start a new car advice thread, I thought I'd bring this one back.
I'm looking at a 20k drive away price point, which leaves five options in my area. They are the Nissan Pulsar, Kia Cerato, Mitsubishi Lancer, Hyundai Elantra and Ford Focus.
I'm not a car buff (which is why I'm a happy Tiida owner), so I'm not really fussed. My main criteria are a boot big enough to fit the golf clubs and buggy, a little bit of power to climb the big hills and the ability to connect my ipod to the sound system. I don't care about airbag safety or other gadgets. All these cars can be bought from the local Ballina dealerships, and serviced in their shop.
At this point my advice request falls into two parts. Firstly, do the Ozgolf experts have experience with late models of the above cars? Secondly, should I buy now (or as soon as the next set of special deals come out) or wait until the end of the financial year?
"There are 50 things to remember in the golf swing. Trouble is that I can only remember 49 of them" - Bob Hope.
Mate lancers are a great car in that price point and pretty bullet proof. End of the month is always best to buy as it is all about the monthly target
If it aint for sale the right price has just not been offered
The cook has the 2007 Lancer VR and I love it so much more than my 2006 Ford Focus. I am seriously thinking about buying another Lancer despite it being the exact same car since 06 or so. I think I will get the GSR hatchback model and push the Focus off a cliff.
Linda has a lancer and it has been excellent. No mechanical issues at all.
Can highly recommend.
I have driven the Cerato and the Pulsar. The Cerato delivers a lot of value for money and a 7 year warranty is outstanding.
I drive a lancer. So you may not want one.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.
The Mrs has a 2013 Lancer VR-X and loves it. Fairly good on fuel, has plenty of overtaking power when you need it, handles really well.
Subwoofer in the boot makes it hard to fit more than 1 set of sticks but can be done. I don't think the standard models have that though so you may be better off in that respect.
I may as well go too...
Looking to upgrade the 2004 BA XR6. Only has 120,000 clicks on it though so I could probably drive it for another 8 years before striking any trouble.
The range of Large family sedans is absolutely appalling right now, so looking at Utes instead.
Mitsubshi Tritons, yay or nay?
Something along the lines of this...
If I go with a Ute it'd pretty much have to be a dual cab.
There was a thread on here about buying a dual cab I thought.
Found it
