Surely they would remove him if he was a threat, although I guess he might have popped up overnight

Not many of them aren’t a threat. Shifty buggers

I've been bouncing between Q stars and Z stars for the past 18 months. I quite enjoy both. I just need to be aware of a little more roll out with the q star around the green. Durability is good with both.

Fingers crossed eBay release the 20% code early next year, $79 per 3 dozen delivered makes the Z Star unbeatable in terms of bang for buck. I doubt it though

That's way cheap. I thought the recent deal through golfbox was good at ~$80 for 2 dozen.

$40/doz is about the best you can usually do. The deal TC is talking about was amazing - I think an end of model run-out?

I want to try the Snell mtb-x. It sounds like it could be a good ball for me.

Yeah $40 a dozen is great value for Z stars

Yeah it was a runout deal, hence the reason I mention early next year. I haven't seen eBay with the 20% off code on general sporting goods for a while, seems to be high margin products like headphones etc.

After speaking with HOG I was very surprised how low the margin is on dozen buys of golf balls

Yeah, I imagine golfbox are making very little if you buy their 2 dozen for $88 with a 10% code... Pro shops will make a bit when then sell them for $55+ a dozen though.

If you came to my pro shop and bought z-stars for $40/doz, we'd be losing money.

I can only assume the golfboxes of the world can somehow get additional bulk volume discounts that don't even figure for us.

Perhaps they are ordering a pallet/container load drop ship from Indonesia; (in one of my previous roles as a wholesaler) we used to offer a massive discount for a container of drumkits from China and you saved a bucketload of freight cost particularly for our W.A client.

I know there are supplier rebates in play, my local Drummond told me they have to wait until a sale period before they get an extra cut of margin so that's why they can be coy with discounting outside of the sale periods. It's an interesting industry and im keen to figure out how pro shops can really make money.

Tbh, about half our ball sales (by sale, not by total balls) are sticks of 3 or singles. Much more margain in pricing it that way.

That’s $40/doz with free overnight shipping across the country too. The normal rules of society don’t apply to Golfbox. They’re magic.

    Yeah, it sure is.

We get people asking for price matching sometimes, and they are genuinely disappointed that we won't sell it to them at a loss.

I can buy all the balls at our cost, and still the Snells are probably the best value to buy, though Srixon are probably the closest.

I just wait for my local pro shop to put prov1 on sale and it's 2 dozen for well under $100. That's not bad value when RRP is $79 a dozen.

Completely different ball. NXT was replaced by the Tour Soft.

there is some low level talk about the new Maxfli Tour ball being pretty good, about to hit the shelves in USA, but I dont think anyone in Australia seems to carry them.

Apparently they claim to place the alignment mark along the optimal COG (thats actually not new for them).

Found one of the new Callaway Chrome Soft X LS yesterday and what a nice ball it is. I normally find Callaway balls awfully clicky or sometimes even heavy. This thing felt like a million bux and went well. Apparently competes with the TP5x and Lefty Dash.

Started using TP5x balls recently, they're my current favourite. Decent enough and consistent driver distance, good amount of spin to pull up chips and pitches and they don't feel like hitting rocks. I find the year or two old models online to save a bit of coin.

Saw an ad recently for zero friction golf balls, surely that's not possible?

Used a Bridgestone BXS on the weekend. I've used them before and found they spun too much. This might have been the newest model, but it was a great ball and was very durable.

Keen to try the Tour B
