fascinating, they must have come up with a way to allow a shaft to flex but limit twist - otherwise would be impossible to control, right?
the tester got a lower smash factor but longer distance, compared to his normal driver, perhaps due to the shaft having less resistance at impact.
It was a really interesting combination of numbers that the Tester was getting. Faster swing speed and hitting pretty much out of the centre, but his smash factor dropped. Which says timing was off, which I think they pretty much got to the conclusion of in their assessment. Potentially you could fit this shaft with a lot of work, but accuracy will be the telling point.
Just a new version of Nunchuk?

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
5.5 degree option available, holey moley!

Quite possibly. I know it's only an option but think about what Cobra are saying by releasing this as an off the shelf product (to the public). Loft is just one part of a club spec. Who needs a 5.5 lofted driver? Likely someone with well over 130mph club speed, verging on long drive. How many golfers will this realistically appeal to? I'd suggest barely any club level golfers. Therefore the only business case that you could argue is that people will be lured by the super low loft and think I can be like Bryson. It's nothing more than a marketing gimmick to sell to people who can't actually hit it.

The article does suggest that it (5.5*) will likely be a Tour only version.
If you want to see how hard it is to swing a Bryson Driver, see Rick Sheils attempt to hit a 48" version of his own Driver. Now add 3 to 4 degrees less loft to the equation!

Be interesting to see if the new Cobras stays under $1K Golf Shop retail here in Aus or if we get back to Callaway ERC II prices. $1250 was the go when these lobbed.
