Default For Sydney People - Help! - Golf Course around Chatswood

    Hi,

If I am staying at Chatswood during Easter, what golf course is the:

    Closest to Chatswood?
Able to get an very early tee time on either Saturday/Sunday?

Thanks in advance for your advise.

In another lifetime, I could assist.

You are in possibly the worst area for "decent" golf in Australia aka "The Shite Belt". If you have a car, there is a new practice facility at Terrey Hills, probably 20 mins from Chatswood. If that's not your go, I would sleep in.

Find something else to do unless you want to see Northbridge which might be the worst course on the planet

Doesn't need to be decent, just something close.

So I can finished my round before fam and friends wake up

I do have a car so that's not really a problem to go to places like Magenta (a place I played with OZGfer eons ago but still holds a special place in my heart) but really just constrainted by time.

Think you will struggle on Saturday, looks like there might be some early times on Sunday at https://www.castlecovegolf.com.au/cms/ It's only a couple of kms from Chatswood, 9 holer.

If you do play, the 3rd, 4th and 5th holes used to be Par3s, all 240m plus.

You’re going to the Sahara and looking for the nearest surf beach. I’d leave the clubs at home, smash as much Chinese/Korean food as possible, then a few beers at one of the pubs, and sleep in the next morning with the rest of the family.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

Well that's the main purpose of this trip. Golf is just extra for me only.

Chatswood is closed for what the website calls an "upgrade", strange term for turning it into a 12 hole course.

When you can sell 120 square metre blocks of land for $1.2 million a pop..

Golf courses are a very distant 2nd.

True but it's hard to see what the attraction is of a 12 hole course, I was told the board has described it as a premium 12 hole course, whatever that is.

Personally I wish there is a golf course that is happy to break down the 18holes into 3 parts, 6 holes each.

For my anyway, 9 is a little too short but in times 18 is a little long, especially in QLD summer.

12 is the right number for me in such situation.

Minnippi is three lots of six. Laidley is 12 holes with different tees on 5 of them when you do them again in the 18.

Penfield in Adelaide has 12 greens and ssome different tees to make 18. If traffic isn't that high it works (like Lowood I guess)
