Default 2024 OzGolf S.A Xmas Mug Sun 1st Dec 8:30

    2024 OzGolf S.A Xmas Mug Sun 1st Dec 8:30am
Time is approaching fast so putting this up now for discussion so all us slack this year locals can try and lock down a date for the most important S.A. OzGolf event.

Where: Kenton Valley Super Par 3
    When: Sunday 1st December
    Time: 8:30am
Format: Skins - Stroke no handicap
    Green Fees: $25

Lunch has been booked at Beirhaus in Lobethal.

Pay your Green Fees at the Pro Shop on the day
We are playing for the title of OzGolf S.A Xmas Mug Champion. $1 Virtual Skin per hole plus one $1 Skin for nearest the pin each nine (nearest off the green beats a ball further on the green to clarify). The Skin for each hole is divided by the number of players for ties (no jackpots). At the end of 18 holes the player with the most virtual $ is the OzGolf S.A Xmas Mug Champion.
In the event of a tie the winner will be decided by a chip off nearest the pin from around 10m out on the 18th.
Players have always been encouraged to bring out the vintage clubs for this event but it's not compulsory. Use whatever clubs you feel comfortable with.

Some History and some useless trivia

This will be the 9th year of the Xmas Mug.
All games have been at Kenton Valley Super Par 3. Over the years the course has undergone some modifications to some of the once par 3 holes holes. After trying those modified holes one year we've since played the 9th and 18th as the old original Par 3.
The game became the Xmas Mug when Nadg63 bought along a Santa Mug to be presented to the winner of the day after the game was initially just last catch up hit for the year.
The format has been Skins since it's third year.

There have been 11 different players play in this event over the years.
7 is the most we've had play.
Thecollective is the only one to have played in every Xmas Mug game.

There has been 5 different winners over the years.
There has been 1 2x time winner (BobsYourUncle).
There has been 1 3x time winner (Hatchman).

OzGolf S.A Xmas Mug Honour Board
    2016 - Thecollective
    2017 - Hatchman
    2018 - Hatchman
    2019 - Wazamac
    2020 - BobsYourUncle
    2021 - BobsYourUncle
    2022 - Marcel
    2023 - Hatchman

    I'm good for all dates.
    My preference is the 8th.
We need to move fast on this if we end up going for the 8th.

Default 2024 OzGolf S.A Xmas Mug Sun 1st Dec 8:30

What a great day for it. Course was in possibility the best condition we’ve seen over the years. Yes greens are a little on the slow side but with such tiny targets I think quicker would make it less enjoyable trying to chip to and get something to stay on.
Thanks heaps to TC for running the scoring during to day. Thanks heaps to HP, Marcel and new inductees Todd and Paul. I hope you enjoyed the day as much as us regulars do.

Hatchman successfully defended the title after a slow start not registering on the score sheet until the 5th hole. From there the $ were accumulated making ties with different players until the outright win and NTP on the 16th.

Special mention to TC for a superb shot on the 4th that was an inch away dead in front from a HiO.
