I need to address my putting.
I play off 6, but putt like a 20 marker.
I need to learn the fundamentals properly, and then practice accordingly.
I am on the northern beaches, and open to in person coaching, or online programs.
Thanks

Hi dave,
After spending a few hundred dollars and hours on lessons, I found the following drills summarised everything I have learnt and something I needed to repetitively practice often. I’d like to share them with you:
https://golf.com/instruction/putting...-wrist-motion/
If you prefer videos:
https://golf-info-guide.com/video-go...putting-video/
I still do the video drill every time before a round if time allows.
Sometime your putter actually plays a significant role to stops you putt better than you could, but from what you say it's more like a short putt problem so might not be the case.
Stop yipping it
Forum needs more banter.
Some of these things might be out of whack and all the lessons or practice in the world wont help.
- maybe aiming wrong. Different putter shapes and alignment marks can correct this.
- wrong trail hand grip. With only trail on the grip try different positions ( start extremely over or under) and swing slowly back and forth observe the face angle.
- find your correct stance and posture that allows the putter to swing back and through on plane. Your body is predisposed to move in a certain way thats different to everone else.

I don't have any courses or whatever to recommend but I have been working on keeping my upper arms connected to my chest/torso and using my whole upper body like a pendulum, which helps prevent me getting "handsy" in the putting stroke and moving it off line or changing the face angle. I do it on all putts but it's definitely helped me a lot with the short ones.
Cross handed if you haven't tried it before.
Something I've seen others advocating for and that I have started doing is no practice putts for short to mid range putts.
You've probably hit enough putts in your life to know how hard it needs to go and also for me means I am likely to set up correctly straight away (not shuffling feet/position before hitting the putt) and only need to worry about the putter pointing to the target.
Harder to yip it if your grip is nice and relaxed..I've found when I tense up with my grip I tend to push right a bit
Yep, that's my current thinking of what I need to do....
I have traditionally had a "arms and hands swinging" rather than pendulum.
What I am struggling with, is what is the feeling to imitate and drive this. Have been playing with my right shoulder being the starting mechanism.

Many many years ago I got to a certain level but knew I losing shots to poor/average putting.
I bought a number of training aids to experiment with.
One of them being an adjustable brace that went from bicep to bicep. I can’t find a pic on the internet and not living where all my Golf Gear is so can’t get a pic of it.
I found it good for getting the upper arms/shoulders work as one. When I retrained the feel it reduced that hand/wrist yip. Switching to cross hand grip helped that even more.
Found a pic of one very similar to the one I got.

I have been looking for something similar for my whole swing takeaway.
There is a coach - Chuck Quinton who teaches Rotary Swing that had a product like this called Rotary Connect, but they are not made anymore.
Would be interested in any leads to find something like this myself

I switched to arm lock recently and I've not missed a short part in the last few rounds, I've just used a 38inch putter instead of buying a proper armlock putter, maybe worth a try.
just curious how many putts should a 6hcp'er take per round?
Depends. What lefty said and If you have too many long downhill putts you will have more putts, or if you have a lot of uphill putts inside 5m ( the go zone) you should make a few.
Most of the time a player whines about having too many putts its more likely he hit the greens in the wrong spots, so not really a putting dilemma

if you want to be technical.. this is my favourite, but it is way down the rabbit hole
if you want basics.. this is all you need.

other than that it is just drills - and you have Tori up and Monash who is a putting god.
