    Alice Springs GC
Apart from a Wipe on Hole 2, the first 8 holes went well.
    I then derailed on Hole 9, 10, 11 & 12.

Par, Wipe, Bogey, Par, Par, Bogey Bogey Bogey Wipe
Double, Double, Double, Bogey, Bogey, Bogey, Par, Par, Bogey.
    32 Points.
10 Round average is still above 30.

Monthly medal Saturday, not the greatest conditions with soft/soggy ground and gloomy all day. 89/78. The front 9 wasn't too bad apart from a stupid triple on a par 3 after hitting my first ball into a tree and losing it, turned at +5 but too many silly mistakes on the back 9.

Yesterday 35 points and played better, although putting was terrible with four 3 putts. Yuck. Should have actually been 36 points if I didn't have a brain fart on 12, having a tap in for a point but not realising until after I'd picked up 🤦🏻*♂️
I did get a surprise NTP though.

Winter golf? Saturday and Monday were truly spectacular days.

31, -4 after being +1 after 12 in par when the comp stopped, and then 38 wiping the last today after 9 straight pars.

Bonus, off soft anchor for a day or two.

36 and 28 with a couple of wipes each over the last 3 days. One day I’ll play 2 good nines rather than very good and poo.

Didn't play over the weekend as I was sick, but had a hit today, which was originally meant to be at Brisbane GC but changed to Oxley as BGC had a member only day. Considering just getting over the fluey bug, the windy conditions and the greens all of a sudden being hard and fast again I didn't go too bad with 31 points. One wipe when I lost my tee shot on 13. I did enjoy putting with the faster speed though, didn't hole a lot of longer ones but my pace was good, no 3 putts. 29 putts over the 17 completed holes.

I imagine Oxley are getting ready for the Dave Mullen Jug this Sunday.

But it's been dry everywhere - haven't played Brookwater for a few weeks, but the greens (and fairways) at Sandy Gallop are hard and fast.

That's a good point too. Definitely a lot more run in the fairways as well though. I did expect it would be something like what it was with a week and a half of sunshine and wind for a lot of those days as well. I do prefer it over soft and slow though.

Had one of my worst ball striking days in a while today, pretty much hit everything but the centre of the face over the first 9, although no shanks at least. Sorta got it together more on the second 9. Short game and bunker play was pretty good, as was putting which probably helped grind out an ok 31 points {13/18}. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

3 rounds back this RR, first rounds after the shankfest that was Leon day. I'll be honest in saying I was hosel nervous, which meant playing quite conservative with the irons.

All in all was hapoy, 31 at RQ on Monday, then a 32 and a 33 at Maryboeough during the week.

Most importantly 0 shanks, not even a hint of one. I have isolated the cause at least, now just need to get a bit of confidence to attack with irons again.

    Monday RQ, 15/16 31 off 10
    Wed Maryborough, 12/20 32 off 7
    Fri Maryborough, 13/20 33 off 7

Well the shit ball striking continued into a second day which was rather frustrating, and resulted in pretty much the same score as yesterday shooting 87/76 in the Dave Mullen jug. It did improve on the back 9 at least, particularly off the tee only missing one badly. Maybe just an off week... hope so anyway or else I'll be losing a million balls next Sunday.

    29 points, I suck.

First group out today, -5, felt like -8. The greens were frozen solid, so if you landed just short of the green, the ball plugged or stopped, if you hit the green you were rejected out the back like hitting a concrete path..

Putting on a frozen green is also... different. It gets worse as it warms up and your ball collects ice and bias like a lawn bowl.

However, highly recommended, will do again as its better than going to work.

ah, brings back memories from years ago playing those conditions, except the fairways were frozen as well.

    Ditto.
Last year, the dashboard often showed -2* for a 7am hit off. I prefer this year's 8 and 12.
Biggest problem was the ice build-up on the soft-spikes of preceding players leaving footy boot like imprints on the greens.

Didn't post my 82 at Oxley last Sunday. Didn't play horribly, but was a bit wild off the tee and paid the price.

79/73 in the Brookwater Open today ended up better than I thought it was going to be - was enough for 6th gross and 3rd net in a field of 120. Was a bit tough - tees right back, greens fairly quick. Looking at MiScore only 70/100 broke 100, and only 6 broke 80 off the stick.

    Starting on the 10th:

    BPBPbPPPB-PBBBPPXPP 79/73

Lost ball on my first swing of the day, but managed to get up and down after dropping and punching out into the fairway. Had a solid first 9 despite a shaky driver. Got on the bogey train on 2, 3 and 4, and made a disappointing double on 7. Another really good up-and-down for par from 70m on 9th after hitting a tree with my 2nd help me keep it under 80.

3 wood off the tee the hero - days like today make me want to try to build the driver equivalent (OG SIM with Ventus blue).

Lowood next week - will be an interesting change to go from a daily of 6 today to +1 next weekend, but that's how hard Brookwater is off the blacks.

Yeah, raised the bat for the first time in a while today (105/90). Not much to write home about, too wild off the tee and half the time I actually hit a reasonable drive I buggered up the second shot and made bogey or worse.
I found a number of the tee shots there didn't really suit my eye, at least off the blacks, but I should really be hitting it better than I did regardless.

Loose summarises my round this morning. Was just a bit off with irons and wedges, which added up.

    PBBPBPBPe-PBPBPPbPP 73/33pts

Really can't afford to make bogey on 2, 3 or 7 at Sandy Gallop, but it's so easy to make silly mistakes early in the morning.

Nice eagle on 9 - hit it to about 12 feet and made the putt.

Checking in for the first time since April and the second time since February. That's how bad I've been going, and how hard it was on mudcake fairways and being unable to reach greens.
The fairways have dried out sufficiently that I now throw away good scores through bad play.
But today I lasted long enough that the late choke only reduced me to 34 points. Best round since February.

Too many bogies at Lowood on Saturday. Still enjoyable though, course was in good condition.

    PPPPPBbPB-bBPPbbBBP 73/74

Highlight was probably my driver off the deck from the rough on 15 (par 5, had to punch under & around a tree from about 190m), shame I left the eagle putt 1 roll short.

01/06/2024, Wolston Park, Gold Tees (Scr 66 Sl 119 Par 67), Monthly Medal.

    7/11 fairways, 5/18 greens, 32 putts.
    Scoring BBPBPXPBP PPXPPPBXP; 42:37:79 (+7:+5:+12) nett 74.
    Played to 11.4. Golflink 5.8 (+0.0).

Some driver struggles and three putting to turn a few bad holes into terrible was the tale of this round. I don't play well off the gold tees.

10/06/2024, Royal Queensland, Blue Tees (Scr 73 Sl 126 Par 72), Stableford.

    10/14 fairways, 6/18 greens, 32 putts.
    Scoring XBBBXBBPP BbBBPXPPB; 48:42:90 (+12:+6:+18) stab 12:16:28pts.
    Played to 12.6. Golflink 6.1 (+0.3).

Shocking start and didn't get my first par until the 8th. With the exception of one hole, I was pretty good after that. I think I was taking on the fairway bunkers too much, and paying the penalty, especially on the par 5s.

23/06/2024, Brookwater Open, Black Tees (Scr 75 Sl 146 Par 72 Daily +2), Stroke.

    11/14 fairways, 5/18 greens, 33 putts.
    Scoring (B9 1st) XPBPPPPBX XXBBPBPPP; 42:46:88 (+6:+10:+16) nett 78.
    Played to 7.0. Golflink 5.9 (-0.2)

Great off the tee but didn't hit enough greens (it's hard when it plays so long. I also let a couple of holes get away from me, especially the 2nd (my 11th) where I took a 9 on the par 4. Stupid ****ing middle of the fairway tree!!

29/06/2024, Lowood Cup, Blue Tees (Scr 69 Sl 110 Par 72), Stroke.

    10/14 fairways, 7/18 greens, 29 putts.
    Scoring bPPbPBBPP PXBBPbPPX; 36:41:77 (E:+5:+5) nett 74.
    Played to 8.2. Golflink 5.9 (-0.0).

Another round that felt good, except when it wasn't with a couple of wasteful holes. The double on the last from 100m out really hurt.
