    Default Melbourne Cup!!

So it's supposedly the race that stops the nation (trust me, if you work in hospitality, it doesn't stop anything!!!)

    ..... and it's happening tomorrow...

    So who's everyone's hot tip??

And is anyone going to the track to watch it?

I've had a box trifecta - Yeats, Pop Rock, Activation, Efficient and Dizelle. So, if you want to back a winner, stay away from those 5!!

A mate of mine had lunch with Lee Freedman (sp?) and said Freedman couldn't shut up about Poprock. That's where my hard-earned will be going.

OK, I got swept up in the buzz and put a bet on....

Delta Blues, Zipping & Maybe Better.

If I win, I'll invest in the property market.

    I'm on Pop Rock.

my box tri will include Pop Rock, Tawqueet, Yeats, Delta Blues, On a Jeune and Demerger.

Also chucking $10 on the place for On a Jeune, run 2nd the last 2 years and not carrying much.

I'm going Pop Rock... family friend with Damien Oliver so my money always goes where he does!!

Bad news - he hasn't won that many Melbourne Cups!! Hmmm...

Going the Quinella on Pop Rock and Yeats I think!!

I'm not sure at all about Yeats, i'm wondering if there's form or if it's the usual UK-bred horse media hype that eventually leads to nought!

I like Dizelle and Delta Blues and On a Jeune, but i have a real feeling that some roughy is going to get into the mix this year - Headturner, Railings, Zipping.... No form at all among those 3 during this preparation, but who knows?!

I picked up Geordieland in the sweep, so that's not too bad.

Boxed Trifecta: Tawqeet/ On A Jeune/ Pop Rock
Each way bets: Geordieland/ Pop Rock/ Mandela

Will be a nice price on the tri if it gets up...

I think I'll be doing Pop Rock & Delta Blues with the field. It will be nice for the trainer (he trains both) to pick up the Quinella!!

Depends if there is a prize for last.

i've very concerned about zipping stuffing with my trifecta, if I had my time again I'd throw that nag into the box as well.

enjoyed race 4 though, Oliver in fine form!

There is a temporary TAB set up in the middle of the mall (where the stage is) and it's packed. Crazy!

Drew Mandela and Delta Blues in our work sweeps - nice change from my normal nags.
Don't expect much from Mandela though - 27 years in prison, 90 years old

I've left Tawqeet out of my win/place bets.... but it's playing on my mind. I stuck it in a box trifecta with Yeats & Pop Rock, but can't help but think I should back it outright. After all, the favourite has won in the recent past....
