    Default Afl 2024

West Coast pulled the pin on the coach.
At least he lead the Team to the big dance 2x and got a Win during his tenure.

If only the Dogs showed up a week earlier and the Saints won 3 weeks ago history could have been repeated.
Last time Port lost to the Suns the coach was replaced before the next game.

The MRP suspension chook lotto is spectacular.

Over the last few weeks, some of the decisions have been comical.

Charlie Cameron performs a great ball and all tackle, something that has been part of the game forever. Gets 3 weeks.
Mal Rosas elbows a bloke in the back of the head, gets one. Okay.
Alex Davies goes the bump and concusses someone, gets 3. I am ok with that.

Heeney strikes someone last week, gets one. I am sort of ok with that as it was high and off the ball, even if not intentional.

I know they moved from suspending the action to the outcome after the Maynard hit last year, but the current system is bollocks.

As much as it hurts me to say it, GWS are extremely stiff with 3 for Bedford. Exactly the same style tackle as Dangerfield, who gets nothing because Walsh somehow wasn't concussed despite the tackle being more likely to cause injury. Ridiculous.

I take umbrage at the "off the ball" part of the argument for Heeney, he's quite literally the only person on the paddock that kick is going to, and Webster knows it so he's trying his best to hold him back without actually "holding" him. I have no issue with the attacker smacking away the arms of the defender trying to hold him like this, THAT'S the illegal action. Don't do that and Heeney has no reason to try and stop him from holding by hitting his arm. That decision is a legitimate shitshow.

I don't think he will, but if he does go on to win the Brownlow in 2 months time, that will be as comical and farcical a miss as Chris Grants.

Using the fun Tribunal Tracker - 2024 AFL suspensions, MRO and Tribunal tracker - Zero Hanger

    R
ankine - off the ball, high, 4 is right these days
Dangerfield - one, then let off for being high profile. WTF.

Even Harley Reid was a bit stiff from memory.

Agree with Heeney being stiff, but you can't swing the arm back and clip the bloke. Defenders holding 100m off the ball happens 100 times a game.

Lot of people getting stiff in this chat. Is it the short shorts?
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

Probably wasn't two weeks but was definitely one. The extra (even though it was one complete) movement was completely unnecessary.

Then I'm sorry, call the hold on the defender. It's against the rules. You pay enough free kicks for doing it, they'll stop holding off the ball. This isn't a hard concept. If the AFL genuinely wanted to increase scoring this is how you do it, not by creating ****ing stupid stand, 6-6-6, nominated ruck, changing HTB interpretations midway through a season, etc. rules. But again, they create a rule to ban the outcome of a problem, not the problem itself. So ****ing stupid.

Hawks v Dogs is the most interesting game for the first week of the finals. Going by form leading in there's much interest in how far either team can go?

I think whoever wins it (I'm leaning towards the hawks) will then dispatch of Geelong the week after, and then it'll be a real interesting set of prelims.

Unless they REALLY Port Adelaide it up somehow I can't see them not making the GF, the two home games is massive for them, but then again it could be against any of Brisbane, Sydney or GWS which does add a little spice.

If I had to try and pick a winner from here...

    Port def Cats
    Hawks def Bulldogs
    GWS def Sydney
    Lions def Blues

    Then
    Lions def Sydney
    Hawks def Cats

    Then
    Power def Lions
    GWS def Hawks

    Then
I get blind drunk on Saturday 28th September because that's about as depressing a Grand Final as you can imagine.

It would be funny for Hinkley to extend his years coached without making a grand final, as the current record holder.

Is a GWS vs Sydney GF worse than a Port-GWS GF?

GWS vs Swans is a win - Accommodation will be cheaper, and tickets won't be a problem. Bring it on!

Going to the SCG this weekend for the first time in almost 20 years when I went to a Swans Hoks game. Could only remember the year as Patezza won the Doncaster on the Monday.

Nope. As much as the Swans fans are complete and utter wankers from their 2016 carry-on, they're not racist ferals like Port morons fans.

GWS are confident. They’ve already booked a grand final breakfast fan venue in Melbourne for everyone travelling down to watch them play.

Seems like a waste of money to get a venue twice as big as they need, but AFL funding and all that...

Probably find a way to trade it after they're done with it for a first round draft pick. Again, ticked off by the AFL.

What will be more funny is how the rusted on Port freaks take it when it does and will most likely happen.
