    Default Body connected short game

As I continue my pursuit of lowering my handicap, I have been working on rebuilding my swing with my coach. My ball striking has improved a lot, but I haven’t been practicing my short game.

I have never had formal short game lesson, and use mostly hands / arms. A recipe for disaster when my timing is off (yesterday)

I realise I need to rebuild my pitching and chipping to be driven by my body, like my full swing is.

Does anyone have any good drills or thoughts to stay connected?

Today I practiced and focused on keeping my left arm straight and turning chest whilst keeping arm connected (don’t know if that makes sense?)

My strike quality was far better as I was keeping bounce angle the same, not steepening it through extra hinging, however being a new concept my distance control and feel was non existent

Am I on the right track here?

Reference point - I’m a 6 handicap that has a game built on flaws and compensations. Want to build something more repeatable and consistent to get closer to scratch

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

    Dan is the Answer.
just learn release 1 and 2, 95% of your short game done

And for you Dave, think wibbly wobbly grip, you do tend to strangle the club.

Good point. Softening my grip allows the body to drive

Dan is definitely the man. Get his book and follow/watch his videos on youtube and you're sorted......with a bit of practise as well. Virge is right release 3 (flop/lob) is only a last resort and rarely ever needed and release 1 and 2 are hardly rocket science. What isn't in his book (specialist shots/lies) will pretty much be found in his videos. It's a great system.
