I forgot to update this after the Vic Champs trip.

I played the new Brisbane public golf course on Saturday. It exceeded my expectations, which weren't high for a public course; time will tell though. After the rain that we've had, I expected it to be struggling with condition, but it was good, except some weedy bits on fairways. Pop up greens makes sure that they are okay, and there are no sand bunkers.

The layout was a little weird with two sixes out and back and two threes out and back, but the walk from six to seven was quite long. A couple of holes were too close to the short driving range too.

Nice course though. Not as short as expected. There were three tee options, blue, white, and orange, with quite a difference between them at times.

I was interested in seeing how McLeod is going considering that is where I have been considering moving my membership to. Considering it is double the membership cost to my current club, I was a little disappointed. Greens were not in great shape. We teed off 15 minutes after our scheduled time, and I was told that 10 minutes is the norm. The round took 4h50m (stroke honour board event), but apparently 4h30m is normal. In the end, the membership decision will probably end up with the missus anyway, but McLeod isn't as superior to Wolston Park in my mind as it was a couple of years ago.

That said, I enjoy playing a course with larger greens as it seems to suit my game (can putt well, but don't hit enough greens).

The last few times that I have played it, I haven't been impressed with the greens. They are working on them and have two permanent extra holes (very short par 3s), while they slowly work through renovating each green. I find the standard narrow entry green with bunker front left and bunker front right a bit monotonous too.
I'll probably play it over the next couple of months.
