    Default Strathalbyn Friday 29th December

I’ve got Friday the 29th off so I’m going to wonder down to Strathalbyn for a hit as I’m 1. keen to get out for a hit and 2. Have a look at how much the course has come along since I last played.
I’m going to get there for a 9am Tee off and then the pub in Strath for lunch (not booked).
    Open invite to join in.

Was a beautiful morning for it, just a light breeze and jumper off after 6 holes. No one else out on the course until I came around for the second nine.
Greens were a bit rough with evidence off being cored about 3 weeks ago judging by the amount of sand showing through and some holes still showing.
Fairways are now fully covered with a good layer of grass.
Got 11 holes in (9 hole course) before I come across anyone in front but they let me through immediately. Got around in two and a half hours.

Looks like a great track! Just played Nth Adelaide South with a few mates. We shot a 5 over round as a scramble, so went pretty well.

Sloooooooow start as expected. Even slower thanks to hole one green reno's which meant a temp green about 200 metres from the tee box. Problem then is having to wait for the green to clear before you hit, unless you lay up. So we were close to 30 mins behind off the first tee. Picked up a bit as we played, but still a ~5 hour round.

So, what did you shoot Hatchy?

I got around in exactly half the time your round took.

Yes it is a very nice course with plenty of variety in the holes. At $25 for 18 it’s an absolute bargain. They are under charging tbh.

Same score both times around but I played them very differently.
    End result was 42-42 84.
Highlight was shaving the hole for eagle on the par 5 12th from 15 foot after the. Best drive of the day and a solid 5 wood.
    1x bird
    7x pars
    3x doubles
5x 3 jiggles (can only blame greens for 2)

are the greens a grassed-over version of the old scrapes? 9 holes only?
Sounds and looks like excellent country golf.

I don’t know as I never played Strath with Scrapes. There’s no lingering evidence of the old scrapes so I’m guessing they are in the same spot.
