13 points in 6 holes at Brookwater then the rain and lightning closed the course. Home time

10 points for me over the 6 holes and only one lost ball which was unlucky. Shame about the crappy weather.

Absolute blinder today at Alice Springs
    42 Points
    50% GIR
    71% FIR
    34 Putts
    New PB of 81 Gross.

I'm not the best 15 Handicapper in the world, but I'm definitely top.3.

    Had a brain-fart on 13.
Pushed drive into trees, duffed the shot out, hit the pitch short, fluffed a chip.
Got it all out on one hole luckily.

Sunk some decent length Par putts on 16 & 17 too!

Changed my Driver swing a week ago, and it's working.
Was duffing/topping a few weeks back.
Now I'm hitting them clean, missed fairways were only just missed today.

After a good round was curtailed by lightning and storms yesterday, went out first group today.

We had almost 40mm of rain overnight so it was a heavy playing surface, but 21/20-41 for 76 off the stick was my best round in a long time.

31 points yesterday. Couldn't quite get it going. Some ordinary putting but also a fair number that burned the edge.
Not sure what's happening on the weekend, the weather forecast is garbage (again) 🙄

Got up with a hangover yesterday and decided it would be a good idea to play golf. Hair of the dog for breakfast and a lift to the course from the lovely and I was ready.
Player in the group said all he cared about was beating me off the stick.
    36 points
I won the day and beat him by 7 strokes.
    Merry Christmas.

Woo hoo, just got my second game in for the year! Last one was Jan 6 and finished 19 over, this time 17 over, so I'll take that!

Of course, this game was only 9 holes

    Really enjoyed myself actually.

    Default WDYSTM - December 2023

Wandered down to Stathalbyn for a hit on my own.
Fantastic day for it and apart from 3 week post coring greens the course was in great condition
Played each 9 differently but scored the same.
First 9 Driver was woeful but iron play and putting were solid to save a score
Second 9 Driver was better, iron play still solid but lost the feel for length with the putter and blew a heap of shots for a much better score.
    End result was 42-42 84.
Highlight was shaving the hole for eagle on the par 5 12th from 15 foot after the best drive of the day and a solid 5 wood.
    1x bird
    7x pars
    3x doubles
5x 3 jiggles (can only blame greens for 2)

34 on Thursday at Murrumbidgee after 4 putting the 16th, then 36 today at home. Had 6 birdie putts inside 12 foot, made 0. Made a 50 footer on 17 with a massive downhill slider.... Golf is a funny game. One more round for the year to go

Managed to get around this morning with a delay after 9 holes because of lightning, but that also avoided playing in a downpour. In the end I could have stayed with my usual afternoon round but I wasn't sure what the rain would do.

80 gross for 36 points, couple of birdies in there and pretty happy with the score as I didn't feel like I was striking my irons the best.

Have been striking the ball pathetically of late, which for someone off my handicap is not the best for confidence and does make me wonder WTF I am doing but for some reason, struck a little better yesterday and finished with 30 points (17/13).
3 pickups on the back 9, 1 x where I hit the wrong f'ing ball as one of the other guys was using the same brand, number and very similar marking and my eyesight and stupidity did not do sufficient checks, 1 wipe by simply stuffing up and a third had me plugged under a bunker lip.
Putted ok but could not buy a putt although did drive far better.
Was the 20th game so now the handicap is set a little but lesson this week soming so will see if improves or still makes me want to reconsider.
Highlight of the day for me was clearing the flaming water on 6th for the first time in a long time.

    Absolute shocker today.
    26 points.
Zero warm-up was a great idea!
Lost drives on Holes 2, 4, 8 & drove into the water on 10.
    Putting outside 10ft was hopeless.
Few decent shots on the back.

    Will try again tomorrow!

32 with 2 wipes and 3 lost balls, which was probably about 3 or 4 short of how many I expected to lose around Brookwater. I'm ok with this having never played it before other than the practice 6 holes last week.

2 rounds in the last week at Stirling GC.

Wednesday comp netted a 31 point stableford round where I was quite errant off the tee and poor on the greens.

Saturday Par comp netted a -6 round which I was better off the tee but equally bad with the short stick.

Back to my old putter now for my next round. Serves me right for tinkering with something that wasn't broken.

    Played to 4.8.

After a holiday to NZ and a few weeks off, plus no practice for months, I expected to be a bit rusty. Not so. It was very consistent golf with 13 pars. Short range pitching was ordinary again, but I got away with it thanks to the putter. Now that the greens are rolling better, I'm sinking more putts.

More boring scoring, this time with 14 pars and 4 bogeys. No complaints from me if that continues.

My approach shots were the weak point as usual, but the chipping stepped up to give me plenty of up and downs.

Ordinary swing, poor shot range pitching, and poor decision making, but I managed to scrounge out a decent score thanks to the putter with only 25 putts; several of them from outside a few metres.

Unfamiliar territory being 2 under through nine, and one under through 14, but I bogeyed my way home from there. It was still a good score, but it left me feeling flat. It wasn't the irons that got me the good start, and the bad shots with those, plus tiredness caught up with me.
