To be exact, only the pro shop was totally destroyed, which also was storage for a lot of the members golf clubs.

Pro shop was at least 50m from clubhouse. I played golf with a member from BNE yesterday, he said the club had wanted to build a cart storage area, but approval was declined as neighbours complained it would detract from their view of the heritage listed pro shop. ( no suggestion fire was deliberate )

    * no ozgolf gear was harmed.

Lithium battery chargers are being blamed for most recent clubhouse fires.

I couldn’t tell you. I just wanted to tell MtB he’s full of it but do it gently because he’s a sensitive fella.

🤣🤣I have played there, but I drive past it regularly at work. There's no housing or anything close enough to have a "view" of the pro shop building, at least not that would be worth whining about a cart shed being built.

I played at Brisbane couple months ago, I didn't think it will be a great lost if the clubhouse burn down as well

Ah yes...he did mention something about tennis in this conversation.to be fair it was from half a day ago so the details understandably hazy.

Blakey, have you been to ‘the Brisbane GC’? Old mate is talking crap. Its light industrial on one side. Railway line and Tennis centre to the north and the stinking Brisbane markets to the west! Neighbours view is BS!

The proshop is the green roofed building closer to the railway line than the clubhouse! Btw the proshop definitely isn’t historic. Thats just the members!

So, the "neighbour" takes the train to and from work each day and enjoys the view of the proshop as he steams past?

Not these days, that line isn't used for passenger trains anymore. Driving past it though, you can see a wall of the building. The clubhouse itself is more prominent.

There are houses that border the course, but any view of the clubhouse would be across two holes and the driving range.

If you can’t see it you don’t have a view of it

We have just had instruction from the Golf Club Management that batteries are not to be stored or charged on site.

This is now a condition of insurance for the $20m building that houses our golf club.

At a recent NSW GMA meeting we had a seminar from an insurance broker and he advised that it’s now a common condition for insurance and quite possibly pretty easy to overlook. . He didn’t (and couldn’t) talk about specific club’s policies but I got the feeling he was implying that Eastern may have run foul of this.
    Forum needs more banter.
